MLB 2022 Season: Houston Warship: Go Phuck Yourselves

There's a story floating around that the MLB will waive the relocation fee if the A's move to Las Vegas.

The Tampa Bay Rays are rumored to be eyeing Orlando, Charlotte and St. Petersburg.

The Rays have time as their lease doesn’t run out until 2027. Is there even an inkling of a stadium deal in Las Vegas?

From what I've gathered there was a slow simmer brewing in the tension, from players and managers. Winker just happened to take the hit.

Can't imagine not taking it personally.

ETA: A youtuber (I know, I know) adds his commentary on what led to this brewing:

"Singing songs, and they're carrying signs. Mostly saying hooray for our side."
...which brings us back to my utter disdain for retaliatory beaning.

I hate it more than greedy owners.

That's saying a lot.

Uh...they're in St. Petersburg...

I admit, "Orlando Rays" has a nice ring to it. Sounds rather like Rage. ;)

Oh well, at least that lameass deal to play half their games in Montréal appears to be off the table.

And if the A's bolt for Vegas, I will be laughing my :censored:ing ass off. :guffaw: :guffaw: :guffaw:

I guess I have more of a problem with Winker's tantrum than the HBP which led to it.

I mean, why flip the fans the bird? Wasn't their fault.

And speaking of fans, even I wish they'd cut it out with booing Jose Altuve at Yankee Stadium. Stick a fork in it, it's done.

I have a problem with all of it. Fans booing drives me insane but it's an energy in a crowd and people react to that. I mean, just need to see the Angels player throwing a box of sunflower seeds at...the grass?

Yeah, flipping the fans the bird was unsportsmanlike. And he apologized for it. So, he tried to own that part. But, in the moment, it's easy for it to all blur together.

Ahh...the good old days.

Baseball teams really can't just up and move like teams in other sports can, and the last football/baseball combo stadium is the one the A's are trying to escape from. The biggest minor league stadium is in Buffalo where the Blue Jays had to play during Covid and that only seats 16,000. Can baseball still be played at Olympic Stadium? I see the MLS team plays select games there.

Should put them out to sea on a barge, maybe they'll find a billion dollar stadium somewhere in the Pacific.

Maybe just off Baja.

IIRC, there were a lot of suspensions handed out after the Pirates and Reds got into a brawl back in 2019, so no, people will not finally fuck off with this shit.

ETA: six players and both managers got suspensions, and four additional players were hit with fines.

ETA 2: Sunday was the 21st anniversary of a truly great moment in Pittsburgh Pirates history, right up there with Mazeroski's home run at the 1960 World Series.
