Star Trek: First Contact is currently on Paramount+ in 4K/Dolby Vision until July 31. This hasn't been issued on disc yet.

Unfortunately, I have a TV with HDR 10+…

    So it'll be in HDR10. I don't think Paramount+ supports HDR10+.

I'm looking at the screenshots and I think I like the Blu-ray captures better.

As a side note, it is funny how cramped the Enterprise-E bridge is compared to the one on Strange New Worlds.

And... the Dolby Vision 4K is the improvement??? The 09 version appear to represent the mood of the movie I remember.

From the webpage: "An important regarding these shots: the Paramount+ caps below were taken from a non-HDR display, which does not present the truest look of the color from the new version of the film for still-frame web display."

And on top of that, grabbing and accurately displaying HDR screen caps is difficult to impossible to do so it's tough to judge anything. You can see a slight geometry difference between the two transfers.

Having watched some of it in 4K/DV, it’s refreshing to see it with a more filmic appearance, just like with the previously released 4K titles.

So far, Trek on 4K has been a winner.

I've always had mixed feelings about this movie, but I can't wait to see it in 4K!

Screencaps really don’t do the upgrade justice. Looks crisp.

I noticed that as well but I thought it was a mistake. Weird to upgrade that one next, and only have it on for a month

Now that you mention it, maybe they expedited the streaming release of the FC remaster precisely because they had an existing commitment for it to be exclusively on a different platform when it would've dropped, and wanted to debut the remaster on P+.

Watched the remaster last night and it looks fantastic. Great upgrade over the 2009 master.

Hope my iTunes version gets the new file… this is much closer to how I remember it in the cinema.

When I looked at the screenshot comparisons, I thought they might have labeled them in reverse. The blu-ray caps had more detail whereas the 4k screenshots looked too smooth. I could see more detail in the blu-ray screenshots. Or, maybe the blu-ray was artificially sharpened?

    And after that?

They pull the film completely, or wait and bring it back later?

Streaming deals are beyond my pay grade. I'm sure at some point it'll be available to purchase on disc and online for all to enjoy in their preferred way. Until then, you can enjoy it on Paramount+.

They're not gonna pull the 4K TMP, are they? :(

That was produced for Paramount+ so I don't see that going anywhere.

Still, this is why I'm hoping they sell it one day on iTunes. Just in case.
