What sort of Klingons are we expecting?

I think a mix of DIS S1 Klingons, DIS S2 Klingons, TOS/ENT S4 Klingons, ENT S1-2 Klingons, TMP Klingons, & Kelvin Klingons (masked uniforms) makes sense to see. Its an empire - its citizens are going to be very diverse in appearance. It’s the same reason its not problematic that there are ridged Romulans and smooth forehead Romulans of various skintones.

There should even be Klingons who wear pink armour unironically, like in TAS. Klingon blood is confirmed to be pink after all.

I'm another that would like to see a mix of Klingons from DIS, TOS, and TNG. In fact, I would like to see how the TOS Klingons became so seemingly prevalent during Kirk's day. Maybe there was a shift of power in the Empire during SNW, and the TOS Klingons briefly came out on top (perhaps to the anger of other Klingon types).

I always liked the book explanation. The flat heads were used as canon fodder on the frontier.

Wouldn't that just give the smooth heads more opportunities to be honorable and have honorable combat and all that? In Klingon culture, that's basically a reward.

If the leaked image of the background actor or extra that hit the Internet a number of months back is any hint we're at least getting a return to seeing more TNG-looking Klingons so it's not out of the realm of possibility that TOS Augment Klingons will also show up, as they should this close to TOS. As should happen.

We know what many Klingons looked like in this era and ENT even set it up and explained it, the teeth-gnashing of some fans over said explanation notwithstanding.

The old John M. Ford (and FASA) explanation was that there were Imperial Klingons (ridges), human-imperial fusions (TOS), and romulan-imperial fusions (implied), and that the Empire would front their fusions to the appropriate foe in order to more accurately interact with and fight them. For example, in The Trouble with Tribbles, use of a human-fusion Klingon as a spy allowed him to pass for human until a tribble (and a close medical scan by McCoy) betrayed him as a Klingon.

I always though it was a good explanation to handle the on-screen discrepancies between TOS and TMP, and it injected elements into Klingon society that were good for storytelling: the bigotry between pure-blood "Imperial" Klingons and their fusion counterparts, etc.

That was a perfect way of explaining it all. Then along came "Blood Oath"...

Well, by that time the Klingons had been totally retconned anyway. I always thought it was cool they could get those three actors together in one episode to play their Klingon characters again. But like so many things Trek, a part of me shakes my head at the missed opportunities and the 'shoulda, coulda, woulda...'

One of my favorite DS9 episodes, actually. I loved how Koloth got the drop on Odo, asking who he was, rattling off all these honorific titles, Odo saying, "that doesn't answer my question", Kor responding simply (and arrogantly), "Yes! It does." That episode was full of amazing scenes and dialog. To this day, I still wonder who and what "the Albino" was.

I remember pre-release Discovery fan theories thinking Voq was going to be the Albino.

Yep! I remember that one too. Would have been an interesting tie-in back then (despite the usual "small universe" implications), but I'm kind of glad it went the way it did. I found him to be quite an interesting character at Boreth.

Ooops - My bad - it was Tenavik (Voq & L'Rell's son) that people thought might become the "Albino". I can see why, too. Kid was as white as a sheet, just like his parents (originally).

I'm OK with any interpretation. As a child of the 80's/90's, the post TMP Klingons are near and dear to me. However, the DSC redesign didn't bother me because I expect visual evolution in TV/movies over 50-60 years. I honestly thought it was neat. I hope Worf stays more or less the same, but I'm OK seeing either the new design for SNW or a mix.
