That was questionable.Yeah, the lack of deaging on Hayden Christensen in the flashbacks was surprising given how much they've been using it in everything else. Hell, we had almost an entire episode with a deaged Mark Hamill in The Mandalorian.
If the battle is quick like that it would the best.So I assume the next episode will have Reva going after Luke to get revenge on Vader and Kenobi will kill her, Darth Maul style.

Comes down to time.Yeah, but even if he wasn't physically there, it was still a younger version of him.
My point is just that they obviously have the technology for their shows, so it's surprising they didn't use it.
Yup. Didn't need much to show actual friendship.Imagine if the above had been the first we saw of Obi-Wan/Anakin in AOTC, just before the elevator scene.Everything right and wrong about their friendship and training, encapsulated in just three minutes.
Yeah, that's probably true. IMO they did at least do a better job of blending this in with Attack of The Clones than These Are the Voyages did with The Pegasus.Comes down to time.
Yeah, this really would have been a great to reintroduce us to the characters in AoTC.Imagine if the above had been the first we saw of Obi-Wan/Anakin in AOTC, just before the elevator scene.Everything right and wrong about their friendship and training, encapsulated in just three minutes.
Low bar.Yeah, that's probably true. IMO they did at least do a better job of blending this in with Attack of The Clones than These Are the Voyages did with The Pegasus.
World’s oldest padawan.
I wish there were more flashbacks throughout the series. Use Hayden well. His performance in this one was pretty good. But it would have been nice to see more overall.

Yes but it would have justified using Hayden more. Plus they could have used them to make the Clone Wars material fit with canon better as a few only see the live action stuff as so.I liked seeing Hayden, but that really wouldn't be necessary for the narrative and would definitely be a case of diminishing returns.
But they did use Hamil in Mando. They used him and his body double to recreate that sceneIt's not surprising. They had the actual actor. Why create a completely artificial (awful-looking) CGI construct when you can use an actual person?
Neither is completely believable, of course. But I'd much rather have then err on the side of "real guy who can actually act even if he looks slightly off" than Uncanny Valley monster that may look age-appropriate but is otherwise an abomination.
Obviously, with Luke, they couldn't use a 70-year-old Mark Hamill to stand in for his 30-year-old self. But, in this case, they made the far, far better choice.
Because it is.
Most of the Star Wars shows are. Ahsoka far more so, Mandalorian definitely and Andor also.
A lot of the other examples of digital deaging have had the original actor, and they still chose to go for that method. It's not surprising. They had the actual actor. Why create a completely artificial (awful-looking) CGI construct when you can use an actual person?

I'm the other way around, I'd rather get the digital deaging, than be expected to buy a 41 year old playing his 19 year old self.Obviously, with Luke, they couldn't use a 70-year-old Mark Hamill to stand in for his 30-year-old self. But, in this case, they made the far, far better choice.
