Fans of the early TNG Ferengi?

I liked the Whips and wish they had kept them. They probably would have been a little out of place on DS9, but I was a little glad they brought them back for that Enterprise episode, even though I didn't like that episode very much.
They were very well represented, I thought. The Nagus comes to mind, also Moogie and, I cannot remember his name..., Quarks adversary.... Darnit.
What other types of characters are you thinking of?
Brunt was also pretty fleshed out I thought. It was a silly character, but he did serve as a charactiture for Farengi society.
I see Quark, Brunt, and Gaila going into exile after Ferenginar turns into Federation 2.0... they turn Quark's into a franchise of bars and sleazy holosuite parlors. Then they all buy moons and live happily ever after.
Wished the Ferengi were seen in TNG as they were in DS9, and we would have had more interesting interactions with them.
I think my "problem" with those characters - in this specific context we are discussing, mind you - is that they were firmly defined by their relationship to Quark. An entirely unaffiliated group of Ferengi would have been cool.
Yes, but DS9's cast was already pretty full as it was. Not sure how they would have found room to introduce another group of characters without relating them to existing characters.
I would have cut out a few of my most disliked/least favorite episodes (e.g., "Paradise" or "Profit and Lace") to make room for them

I wouldn't mind those going. But wonder how new Ferengi stories would have worked if you weren't going to include Quark et al.

What if we had something to where the Ferengi and the Enterprise had something of a mutual enemy?
Could have been interesting.
I personally like the TNG S1 portrayal of the Ferengi, and have no problem accepting an ALIEN sentient species behaving in an ALIEN way. The gesticulating and gurning, to me, is just due to vastly different psychology, physiology, body language and society.
And I see their threat to the Federation is not direct violence, but, rather them practising the worst excesses of capitalism in search of a profit. Company store indentured slaves on a planetary level, piracy, wholesale exploitation of a planet and its minerals and foodstuffs with no thought to the environment or ecology, and every dodgy business practise you can imagine.
What's not to like?

^That's a valid point, even though I personally like the DS9 Ferengi more.
But I have to admit that 'fleshing out' characters usually means 'humanizing' them, making them more relatable to us as humans - as they did with the Ferengi in DS9. But if you wish to portray a truly alien (even if humanoid) species, you can't always do that.

Especially the energy whips. 
There were other things which were excellent with DS9 as well.
But I really like the Ferengi and Quark is a great character.
One of my all time Star Frek top 3 favorites, Kes and Garak are the others.
