Spoilers 'Obi-Wan Kenobi' series [Spoiler Discussion]

Sam is part of LF's regular ADR team. He's done a bunch of Stormtroopers in all the modern films, it was his voice you heard yelling "open fire!" in the Rogue One Vader scene (improvised, IIRC), he voiced EV-9D9 in Book of Boba Fett and many, many random things in-between. So yeah, him being on some if not all of the upcoming projects should come as no surprise. At the same time it should not be taken as any indication that he'll be reprising any of his more notable roles.

Well, that's always the rub with prequels, innit? You inject narrative that didn't exist when the original was written, which then makes the original make less sense when the story is taken as a whole.

Star Trek love doing that with the new series. At least it isn’t as “in your face” here

Okay those first two episodes were very good, and I can only echo what everyone else has said, Leia is adorable and perfectly cast, and I love the misdirection Disney went with by focusing on the boy cast as Luke. One of the things that annoyed me about this concept was why on earth Obi Wan would abandon his post to go running off on some damn fool adventure. It never occurred to me that the one thing that would make him step away from Luke was Leia being in danger!

I'm trying to recall, did Leia hear him called Obi Wan? I mean he told her his name was Ben? She might not put two and two together until ANH.

"Ben Kenobi!" Maybe they could do a Carrie deep fake of her face palming! ;)

I'm more bothered about the potential for Obi Wan and Vader interacting. The dialogue in ANH really does seem to indicate they haven't crossed paths (or swords) since Mustafar?

And Kenobi's "He's more machine now than man, twisted and evil." How does he know that? Last he saw Anakin he was being char broiled on Mustafar.)

Actually, last time he saw Anakin was when they were dueling on the Death Star. You know, when Obi Wan got killed? Ghost Obi Wan would probably remember that fairly well.

\. But I burst out into tears when Obi-Wan reflected upon Satine. A flashback feels possible now!

When did this happen?

You're absolutely right and that really rankles me. Many people say, "oh, it's ambiguous! There's wiggle room!"

There's technically wiggle room, but the intent was quite clear in ANH. This is definitely a retcon.

But, at this point in the franchise's long, winding life, I'm much less concerned about continuity than just telling a decent story, so we'll see how it goes.....

In "Star Wars", when Luke rescues her, he says, "I'm here with Ben Kenobi!" and she jumps up and says, "BEN KENOBI!" So she knows they're two names for the same guy.

"When I left you I was but the learner, now I am the Master."

That sounds like Mustafar to me. Given if they fight now Obi Wan's not only older, but he's been consciously supressing his powers, hasn't even fought with a lightsabre in years? Possibly not for ten years realistically. Meanwhile presumably Vader's been focusing on learning about the Dark side and hacking people down left right and centre on a weekly basis. It's hard to see Kenobi as a Master and Vader as a pupil in that scenario.

It didn’t. He was talking about Padme.

Yeah, I figured the OP was mistaken about the Padme speech, but I was being non-confrontational about it (while also checking to make sure I didn't miss something.)

But there's no way they would have referenced Satine in this show anyway.

Mustafar wasn't a thing when that line was written. They made the Mustafar scenes to retroactively look like the line is referring to them, perhaps, but certainly not the other way round. So nothing in ANH to prevent a meeting that is equally, or better, described by that line. It wasn't even delivered as dramatically as deserving to be referring to Mustafar. He was chopped into pieces and left for dead, they haven't met since, and all he got is “I was but the learner, now I am the master”? No, were are missing a rage fit in which Vader tries to chop Obi-Wan and fails in-between.

Which was when Vader was still a "learner." Ergo, not 9 years before ANH.

Remember Anakins memory is fractured. Falling to the dark side he lost pretty much all he was. Also at this point in his career as Vader he may still be learning the secrets of the dark side.
