Is this a ‘comedy’ episode then? I expected Spock Amok to deliver a further exploratory deep dive in to Vulcan culture and mysticism. I’ve never really been a fan of comedy Star Trek episodes, or comedy in general to be honest. I just don’t really find many things funny.
You're not supposed to find them funny. It is a solemn examination of humanity. Do not laugh.
It's more commonly spelled as "hijinks," and means boisterous or rowdy carefree activity.
I probably won’t laugh to be honest, but we shall see. I wouldn’t want to laugh at anything that would be inappropriate to laugh at anyway, especially if it was indeed solemn.
As all Star Trek is. A solemn venture in to human nature. No humor allowed.
Maybe the whole point of the comedy in this episode will be that it is just not funny, it’s not supposed to be funny, even though it is cleverly presented as being comedy? Perhaps everyone on the crew laughs at jokes that are not funny during this weeks episode and because we the audience want it to be funny we will all laugh along with them too? This was a common theme in episode 2 I do believe? People were laughing when things were not funny because it makes them feel better when things are not ok? I can’t remember which episode it was exactly, but I am almost sure that it was episode 2? I have tried to look back through my post history as I commented about this at the time but I have spammed word association threads etc and CBA.
Oh, so it a LGBTQ etc. allegory, in particular focused on the trans community? It could be quite the social commentary if presented correctly.
I hope that it is nothing like the DS9 episode when Quark went transsexual!
There was no implication of that in the interview.
It's just a comedy episode, I don't think there's going to be any deeper meaning to it.
Maybe there will be something to do with relationships as there is a focus on Spock and T'Pring's.

Is Stonn making a cameo? Maybe he will encounter T’Pring possessed by Spock and have de facto relations with Spock? Or vice versa? This could be T’Pring, Spock and Stonn’s first intimate encounter with each other on *so* many levels… but it would also mean that any relationships or interactions between these characters in the future, in particular as depicted in Amok Time, are classed as ‘ex post facto’! I don’t think that anyone will get my attempt at humour here though.
The shipper thread would be on fire next week if any of this craziness actually comes in to fruition!
