Star Trek: Starships Model/Magazine Subscription

In retrospect, I think, yeah, this is the XL version. I've been resistant to get those, but this one actually isn't that much larger (about 8" wide) and looks comparable to the Relay Station and the Regula 1 sitting next to it. It's also got me interested in getting K-7 and Spacedock and possibly the Klingon space station as well. I may order them off the site, though I was turned off by the fact that the Klingon D5 tanker is still not available on the Canadian site, even though it's listed.

Thanks, that makes sense. I’ve been going back and forth over whether to get the XL as well. I am a big fan of the stations - K-7 is lovely so I do recommend that one. I also have Spacedock and Regula 1, so I have what I consider the iconic Trek space stations. I would like the Relay Station come to think of it…

Just wish the regular DS9 had a stand! There are probably third party options I could look at.

So I rang Eaglemoss on Friday, asked them about my pre-order of XL-Cerritos from back in December from the European shop. Turns out they had no clue when it'll be dispatched, I then asked them to cancel the order.

I then promptly ordered the XL-Cerritos and Titan through Amazon and the Eaglemoss shop there. They couldn't/wouldn't deliver to Ireland and instead of using a proxy address service, I sent them to my brothers in the UK where we're staying for a few days this week, they got delivered on Saturday.

They're both bloody good models, I'm not sure how I'm getting them back though, I think with some jiggery pockery they'll go in our luggage back in the boxes, wrapped in bubble wrap sans boxes or, I'll post them to myself.

Yeah, I'd say DS9 is the one to make an exception for. Yes, I was thinking myself how there are four iconic Trek stations (even though Regula 1 started out the other way around as the office complex, which BTW, is how Andrew Probert prefers it, they removed a lot of the discs around the mid-section for the second film, which I think has the effect of making it look better as Regula 1).

I've said this before, but I encourage you to check any comic/collectible stores in your town to see what they have before ordering online or through ebay. Taking something home that very day is much more gratifying than waiting weeks for it to be shipped to you (plus supporting a local business is always a good thing). Sometimes they can also order things for you, which will at least save you some shipping costs.

Regarding my own pending orders that are due to arrive tomorrow, it occurred to me today that the two tracking numbers I got might not be the second and third order, but just the second in two different boxes (since order #2 was 2 different shuttle sets). I guess I'll find out tomorrow.

The Eaglemoss site of The Orville does not list the Union fighter anymore: https://shop.eaglemoss.com/hero-collector/the-orville-ship-collection

I hope that doesn't spell the end of the line.

I keep going through the Alpha Quadrant and Major book. The Angosian transport vessel also receives the "orthographic spread page" treatment, raising my hopes we could see this as a model. It looks like a lollipop-version of a Colonial battlestar.

I hope the Orville line continues (and Stargate and Space: 1999, etc). Not getting them myself - my Trek collection is already too vast for me to display - I still enjoy seeing other genre shows represented. Particularly ones with less media exposure.

So, I got ONE of my packages delivered today. Much to my surprise, it was the third order, which I had made weeks after the second. Also, to my surprise, the Orion Interceptor and Gorn ship came with magazines, thought the Fesarius and Raven did not. Unfortunately, just a couple of days prior, I had ordered a couple of magazines off eBay to make up for it. This means I'll now have two magazines for the Gorn ship, and still none for the Fesarius and the previously purchased Sarajevo. This package arrived quite late in the day (after 7) I don't have time to open them all tonight, but the Fesarius looks very neat (hope to have a magazine that I can get signed by Clint Howard someday). Having it rest on the curved arms stand works really well. I wish they had done something like that for the Borg sphere, instead of sticking holes in both the top and bottom.

I admit, the 3rd shuttle set never excited me much, but I think the Enterprise-E shuttle is probably my favorite, and I'm pleased to say it looks like it's just about to scale with the Fed scoutship, just in case you wanted to reenact that scene from "Insurrection".

I'll try to go into more detail about the other stuff tomorrow or Thursday, and hopefully, someone will be ringing my intercom with the 6th and 8th shuttle sets tomorrow as well.

Over this past weekend I was at 2nd and Charles and saw that someone had sold back one of the Bird of Prey sets/3-packs. And it got me wondering, have they ever said why they didn’t do all three versions of Voyager. Nacelles up, nacelles down and landed. Seems like those would have been easy repaint/resculpts to throw in somewhere.

Okay, the other two sets arrived today.

First, a few things about the stuff I got yesterday. The Raven is really nice looking, though it's never occurred to me until now that a ship that existed 20+ years ago probably should've looked a bit less advanced (maybe some more bulgy looking nacelles, like the Enterprise C and D had, for instance). The Orion Interceptor is a wonderfully graceful and aggressive-looking ship. I thought it was a fighter, but it appears to have tiny windows, implying a much bigger ships. They did a good job on the Gorn ship, though it fits REALLY snugly on the stand.

As for the shuttles in Set 3...

I mainly got this one for the Enterprise-E shuttle. The travel pod is fine, I suppose. I wasn't really interested in the worker bee, but it is neat that it's small enough that you can have transparent windows and look inside. The Argo shuttle is okay, I suppose, but I'm not really excited by anything from "Nemesis".

Now for the 2 sets I got today.

Again, I mainly get set 6 for one shuttle, which is the Defiant shuttle. It looks really neat and it's interesting comparing how different it is from the Chaffee shuttle. Regarding the others, it's hard to separate my feelings of a design vs how Eaglemoss did making that design. The "Sphinx workpod", this one looks more like an underwater salvage vehicle and it's not even technically canon. It was an unused Andrew Probert design that I think worked it's way into a technical manual. I think the Inspection Pod from "Enterprise" would've been better. Speaking of which, the Hawking shuttle is rather underwhelming, because we got an almost identical shuttle (the Galileo 5) in set 5. Apart from some windows on the side and some different texture on the bottom, it's the same damn thing. That, too, could've been switched out. Regarding Janeway's armored shuttle, not bad, but I would rather see it without armor.

I was more excited for set 8. Imagine my surprise, therefore, when I took out the Vulcan shuttle and the ring just fell off! Hopefully, a bit of glue will solve that. The Xindo-Insectoid shuttle is well done, and I love that, for one, they were forced to give it a distinct stand. The Klingon shuttle has some heft to it, even though it looks like a piece of steak. Not bad, but I think I'd rather see it as the Nenebeck. The one I was most excited for and most pleased with was the Ferengi shuttle. Looks just right and I'm so glad they finally got to it. (It did appear on three different series, after all).

I originally wasn't going to do it, but I finally broke down and ordered the 9-inch Enterprise from DSC/SNW. Surprisingly, it only took about a week to get it from the US Eaglemoss store. I think I had read several posts in this thread about how some Enterprises had arrived with broken off nacelles, and given my luck lately, I was afraid of the same thing happening to me. Fortunately mine was intact, and I almost hate to say this as a diehard fan of the TOS Enterprise, but I really like this updated version and how the designers tried to make it both classic and modern at the same time.

It's actually not the first time that an Eaglemoss model made me a fan of a ship I earlier didn't care for...

Has anyone done a return/exchange from eaglemoss before? I have a feeling it’s going to be a pain in the butt.

I ordered a few ships for a friends birthday and they sent the wrong Bird of Prey. I ordered attack mode and they sent the landed version.

From my experience if you email them they are pretty good about sending the right ship and usually letting you keep the wrong one they sent. Has happened to me a couple times now.

Cool thanks. That would be cool if they let me keep it but I certainly won’t count on it.

I sent them a note after I opened the box but I’m pretty sure the email responses come from the UK. They always hit my inbox between 10p-3a…I’m in the mountain time zone.

Okay, SNW spoiler:
Those Gorn ships... I reckon Eaglemoss could put out the smaller ship but the larger one is so irregular and organic it might as well not be a ship. Why does Trek, since 2009, keep churning out bad guy ships that cannot be turned into merchandise?
