I use photobucket but they only allow for very small avatars. Where can I go for bigger ones?

Really? I use photobucket and have no problems uploading "regular" sized avatars...

when it says 'resize" and I pick "avatar" it makes them so small

Okay, I use the open source (free) GIMP image manipulation tool to make the avatars the size I want, then I upload them to photobucket with no further size changes. I don't use their native resizing tool. Though IIRC you can only get a 100x100 max avatar size out of their site.

I use photobucket, too, and never had problems uploading my avatars.

Yeah, just use Gimp or something similar to resize your avatar, then change the setting in photobucket to something bigger and you can uplaod the avatars without photobucket changeing them.
