I'm sorry to hear that you don't understand metaphorical depictions of psychological complexes.

Of course I understood it. There was nothing more to understand after the first 30 sec. of the insipid monster scenes and repetitious talk of doorways. Of course depth adds to viewer engagement but this series, like Discovery, is a low quality attempt that adds nothing. Remember the high level of violence in discovery previous seasons? It was gratuitous and a vain, cheap attempt at engagement - exactly like this. This has the added feature of being incredibly boring and tedious.

Why am I even typing this. Groups of trekkies discussing star trek episodes online is a useless waste of one's time. I'm just venting about what trash this episode was; in a delusional hope that some producer somewhere is reading this and deciding to stop going ahead with garbage episodes that are obviously so even on paper before a decision is made.

The Artificial Tango episode on Mercy is out!

No, not really. Dealing with psychology complexes, especially ones driven by trauma, is simply not Star Trek.

It is the better versions of Star Trek. It was a recurring theme on DS9, and PIC has made it an important part of its exploration of Jean-Luc Picard from episode one.

Okay. So tell me: What did the monster represent?

That is an entirely different topic that has nothing to do with the topic at hand, but TNG's "Conspiracy" would like a word.

:rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl: Yes, yes, Terry Matalas is gonna read a TrekBBS post about how you don't like a perfectly valid creative device that's been used for decades and decide that you, you, Random Person On The Internet, have invalided all of his work and he must start all over again to appease you! :rommie::rommie::rommie::rommie::rommie:

When, at least that is an honest commentary on it being unlikely to change things.

Though, I would advise emailing Terry Matalas directly. He does respond on Twitter and I'm sure he would love your notes.

You also accused them of not wanting to be challenged intellectually or emotionally. So mentally lazy at least, if not stupid.

Don't be silly. Never wanting to be challenged intellectually or emotionally by the works of art you consume doesn't make you lazy. It just means you have bad taste.

And this is why some trek fans do not deserve nice Trek things...
