Yeah, no. No thanks. I was talking to the grownups.

Huh? Because I called the episode worthless garbage, I'm not a grownup? Try typing things that make sense next time - thanks. Also, immediate ad hominem is a sign of immaturity, ironically. Anyway one doesn't have to be a die hard trekkie that thinks all episodes are incredible sci-fi to post here - although one does get that impression, admittedly.

No, it’s not that. It’s that even a cursory glance over your recent post history shows you complain, whine, grumble and shit on everything that’s new. Your opinion is so far from objective so as to be a joke and the repetition makes it all meaningless.

Don’t respond to me again, I really mean that. Even if you do, you won’t get a response. Thanks and enjoy your day.

You're not being at all observant.

This place can be one of the most dramatically negative spaces devoted to any entertainment property. I'd say that's more characteristic that boosterism here.

People are responding to you doubling down on your initially hyperbolic statements. You're not going to engage in any conversation anywhere for very long if you start by staking out preposterously extreme statements and then dig in. Well, a New England Patriots forum, maybe. But not adult conversations, even about silly TV.

The copypaste fleet has nothing on the AI robot tentacles. I'll take forty generic starships over space tentacles trying to grope our heroes' ship.

Eh. The Data scene was good, and it was an improvement over the previous episode, which was the nadir of the season.

That was the only good part of the Season 1 finale. At best anything else was "acceptable" or "meh."

Ain't it strange how Love can make a person do things that would seem completely out of character.

Being Human really sucks at times. ;)
wasn’t the point of the city on the edge of forever that “the needs of the many” before the needs of the many was written? Some love stories should not be pursued due to the consequences. Not to mention that he’s known Theresa for like thee days.

Anyone remember TNG 'Masks'? This is on par with that utter trash
I like masks.

He's staying in the past.

Actually, considering how bad things are about to get, Rios should think about heading back to the 70s to live with his new missus, although if his lifespan is almost 200 years... Rios might want to ruminate about starting his second life in the 1870s.
And mess up the timeline further? At that point better to bring them into the future.
And yes, his life expectancy might be of 150 or something, but only living in the 25th century, if he stays in the 21st, living a 21st century lifestyle and eating 21st century food (especially the pretty low quality one you usually get in the USA) he’ll fare only moderately better than the most of us.

I never got the hate for the season 1 finale. I can understand not liking the copy /paste fleet, but it's not something that bothered me at all.
the copy-paste fleet has nothing to do with it, it’s the whole double episode that’s really, really messy, even if it contained some pretty great ideas. That FX blunder is totally understandable, it’s not nice but I don’t think that if the episode was good it would “ruin” it for anybody.

I'll respond to whatever I wish including your hostile messages. Calm down - you're angry I insulted a bad star trek episode online! It was terrible, IMO - get over it.

Not that interested in what others are saying and from what I read it's mostly defensive trekkies getting all worked up as soon as you trash an episode or a series. I don't think they're all trash otherwise I'd not be watching all of picard, discovery. Just very often trash, and I'm venting about that. That's fine, it's my opinion and you're welcome to it. :techman:

The opinion as it is is very generic. It lacks any observations of what made this episode "trash. " I could copy and paste the comments to any episode I find bad, and it would fit.

If Trek currently is very often trash then why bother with it?

I did indicate the reason, stating that flashback is tedious and this was a whole episode of it. Talk about copy & paste, the whole "unconscious with agitation on a bed" has been done 500,000x before and is as repetitious as a car chase. Nothing happens in the episode worth discussing! Literal trash - how often do people sit and talk about what they discarded in their household waste? Never. :D

Why bother with it, you ask? Because bad star trek is better than no star trek, and as stated, episodes are still hit & miss - generally missing by a wide margin however.

I haven't watched any of the season yet, but I've kept my ears to the ground. Was this episode really that bad? I've heard 'worst episode ever" thrown around, but honestly it would have to be pretty fucking bad and fight it's way through quite a crowd of episodes to achieve that...
The episode is okay. It's the lowest episode rating I've given to PIC, a 6 out of 10, but that's still a long way from "Worst Star Trek episode EVAR!!!"

My real disappointment is that the season went from "That's super awesome!" to "It's just okay." If it had been "just okay" all along, it wouldn't have stood out to me as anything wrong.

In other news: What's Beckler beckling about?

Still don't get it. I mean, what should one expect such a machine intelligence to look like? A giant Data ala Spock in The Infinite Vulcan? RTD2 and C3PO? I think it would have been an even bigger mistake to attempt to make this machine life-form look anything like it was humanoid in nature. Tentacles were a choice to be sure, but I don't see how it is any better or worse than any other choice they could have made.

well, for a starter they were called in our dimension by a *signal*. I don’t know other people’s experience, but losing a signal while I’m almost there doesn’t mean I’ll cut off my fingers closing the door I opened to get there. If anything I’ll want to investigate more.

Mystic Arts 101. Break the spell and close the portal. ;)

No. Terrible ANY kind of entertainment is NOT better than none at all.

If we're so desperate for new Trek content we'll allegedly suffer through so many terrible episodes just to get our fix then there's really no point for the franchise to have returned, is there? Well, except for giving us reasons to complain and grandstand for attention.
