but the last we see of Kirk isn’t him retiring with David and Carol. That’s a bridge (ah!) I don’t think we ever crossed.
He can retire in peace with Bev, no child out of nowhere needed. Picard never seemed like a man who wanted or needed a child.

*and we should have seen Kirk retire with Carol and David but A)those damn Klingons and B)that damn Berman

Bev? Don’t you mean laris? Picard doesn’t seem to be much involved with crusher these days. And well, he clearly desired children, according to the nexus.

A little while ago a Twitter friend of mine jokingly suggested that Picard and Q had a half-human, half Q son when they "ended up in bed" in "Tapestry" (if it WAS all set up by Q one could argue that every person in it except Jean-Luc himself was actually Q, who knows how Q's set-ups work) and Q had to hide the kid from the Continuum and everyone else because "hybrids" are VERY much frowned upon by the Continuum, as we learned in "True Q". And who knows, maybe THAT kid shows up now. And now that Q is no longer really in charge of his powers, who knows, maybe said son has left his hiding place and will now come looking for his other dad, the one he was never allowed to get to know. (This WOULD actually tie in with the whole "needs to find out who he really is" PIC character description for the son, lol.)

Can you imagine the story potential there? I sure can ;)

Well, with Kirk, for starters? His hitherto-unknown-to-him son with the curly hair? Or was he just unknown to us? It's been a long time. Forgot his name.

David was conceived before TOS started, and David had no idea who his daddy was.

Antonia, the Girl on the horse in Generations, is Kirk's Happily ever after woman... NO, wasn't the day Kirk was reliving, the day that she left him? For all we know that slice of his life could have been from when Kirk was very young, even if he was wearing his old fat body, its just that you would expect that his physical appearance would reflect who he was in his memories of whensoever he was reliving. If Picard had timed it right, he could have left the Nexus with a TOS era Kirk of 31 years young.

McCoy got an ex-wife and kids at some point, but what failure of a woman would let Leo grow that Grisley Adams beard from the beginning of The Motionless Picture?

Sulu got a spouse and kid, but left them on Yorktown/Earth.

O'Brien took his beautiful wife and wet children back to Earth after the conclusion of DS9.

It would have been a very minor change to the script, but it would have made Kirk's scene in Star Trek: Generations so much better if the woman of his dreams in the Nexus had been Edith.

How many hundred Stella Mud's did Kirk construct to annoy Harry?

He could have facilitated one Edith Keeler, and left her in a crate on the Enterprise until it was time to retire.

There were 500 Stellas.

And the less I think about TOS James Kirk with an android replica of Edith Keeler that he keeps in storage for years the better off I'll be. There's a fine line between tragic romance lost to fate and...well, you know how Kirk usually did things.

Don't forget Rayna...Kirk was DEFINITLY into 'Sex Doll' robots so a robotic Edith Keller...:shrug::nyah:;)

Desire is a strong word.

Rene just died, and it was Jean-Luc's RESPONSIBILITY to repopulate the family.
good point. Still, I really liked his attempts at parenting, ready for a new one!

Why not both
Jean-Luc doesn’t strike me as someone interested in poligamy.

you mean David. But I meant seeing our hero retire for good with a family.

O'Brien took his beautiful wife and wet children back to Earth after the conclusion of DS9
good catch, he’s probably the only real family man Star Trek ever got.

she was in the novelisation. Well, not exactly: in the book Kirk sees several women of his past while in the nexus and Edith is a notable one.

Edith was always portrayed as the one that stuck in Kirk's mind, at least in comics and books. But, what would that look like in the Nexus? Kirk is a pragmatic man who recognizes that even in the pain of loss staying with her would not automatically be possible either.

Though I am sure that there is a fan fiction that proves otherwise.

that fan fiction seems to be called Rios these days (still have to see episode 8, no idea how it goes there).
How so? I was saying that a fan fiction would be written about Kirk pursuing a relationship with Edith outside of the outcome of that episode.

Rios is doing his own thing.
Ah come on now I doubt many heterosexual men would be saying no to a Laris, Beverley relationship. Even a man of Picard's resolve is gonna "boldly go there"
Straight male here. I would say no.

I knew I'd heard this somewhere before ...

Jesus Christ, why did I decide to wait a whole week to watch this episode? I could've participated in this thread in real time and been there for the historic moment where I've laid mine eyes upon a Mans1ay3r Skyrim GamerPoop on a Star Trek forum. What a time to be alive.
