Taika Waititi to write and direct Thor 4

It's amazing how Snyder seem to infect every Marvel thread in the end.

So to bring this back on topic, the trailer has hit the No. 7 spot on the list of most views in the first 24 hours, well ahead of Doctor Strange ITMOM.

21 Millions views so far!

This is going to be a HUGE movie, and I don't like it. I really don't want the superhero genre reverting to campy comedies exclusively. Every time anything even remotely campy comes out I get very worried.

I think things like The Batman are pretty clear proof that that isn't happening.
Marvel.com has posted an article about the movie merchandise, including Legends figures, Funko Pop!s, role play toys, and LEGOs.
And yes, in case anyone is wondering, there is a Miek in a suit Pop!
Is Meik female? The Pop! of them in the suit appears to be wearing a dress.

You must have hated the original Superman movies then...

I think it's going to be the typical fun Marvel movie. Not campy, but not one that takes itself too seriously either.

You don't really know Taika Waititi's style if you think this movie is just going to be empty comedy.
I saw Thor 3. I don't care if its comedy that changes my view on the meaning of life, or the dumbest comedy ever made. Any superhero movie that's a full-on comedy (for characters not intended as such) set off major alarm bells.

Of course there is. I am just always going to be worried that all superhero movies will end up as jokes, because "hehe its the funny papers".
I think we've made it beyond that kind of stereotype for comics, we've gotten enough serious comic book movies that by now most people should know they aren't all jokes.
And I love that we've reached a point where we can have comic book movies like The Batman, and Love & Thunder coming out just a few months apart.

Yeah... I guess you're right. I'm just paranoid lol

I think it's contained well enough to a few directors/characters - mainly Taika Waitit and James Gunn.

I love Gunn's style, adore the Guardians movies and really liked his Suicide Squad and Peacemaker. With Waitit i just don't know, especially when it comes to Thor. The Thor movies were always the weakest for me in the MCU, both because their stories were not that really interesting and because the character and his stories/mythology have potential for so much epicness yet the movies never really took advantage of that.
When Waititi did Thor 3 he turned it into a silly comedy movie and the character into a buffon as well - it killed the character for me. I have few hopes that such an awesome storyline such as Gorr the God Butcher will make the difference, it simply is not Waititi's style but i'll be happy to eat my words. If the Russo Brothers would have made that Thor movie i would expect my mind to be blown, here i hope it will be.
