Get Suzie Plakson then, Or Olivia d'Abo.

Or, remember when Q de Lancie called himself as an expert witness? That opened up all sorts of insane possibilities.
in the early comics, before Corbin Bernsen had played the second Q, there were indeed an entire Continuum of de Lancie Q's

These recent episodes of Picard have dropped it down to the worst Star Trek show ever made thus far.

Very little faith that they'll turn it around.

I take a bi-polar ex of mine as an example. Once she forgot to take her meds and had a total meltdown in the middle of a tourist town road. And she wasn't happy about it. Is it possible that in 4 centuries there is nothing more reliable than "I recommend that you take these pills after meals"? And I'm not talking about "genetic therapies" or similar. If certain mental disorders are caused by biochemical imbalances, why shouldn't they be permanently cured? I've never seen a character in Star Trek take insulin and I'm pretty sure it's a non-existent disease in the future, even without having to resort to genetic manipulation.
And? Adjusting the biochemistry of the brain can impact more than just symptoms.

My ex when she was on the meds she was a well adjusted individual. When she wasn't, she believed she was the reincarnation of a 14th saint (really). If there had been a permanent cure for her condition, she would have gladly taken it. Or are you saying that since being someone with delirium of omnipotence and visions is the "natural" condition of her, nothing should be done about it?

I think it would depend on the individual and to give them choice. To declare a one size fits all treatment will always give me pause.

As someone who's been on antidepressants for several years, I always enjoy those hot takes from people with no direct experience of mental illness who believe it can be fixed with good old-fashioned common sense. I'm also diabetic – maybe I should just pull my socks up and go out for a walk and just jolly well get on with things to deal with my blood sugar too

Yep! Why destroy the natural order of the universe with some diabolical chemical concoction? If the Lord wanted us to be diabetic or schizophrenic, who are we to say He is wrong?

Who said that?!?!
Thinking that the future is depressing because they can't cure mental illness with a flip of a button seems to imply such. Even in the 24th century counseling is still employed? Why? If it's just biochemical then just adjust the brain. Simple.
