SNW Episodes 1-5 Titles and Descriptions

Back in February there was a report about a possible leak of episode titles of the first four episodes of SNW. *Edited to provide links to sources.

It was discussed a couple times since then here, they seemed plausible, but no other reports came around about episode titles for a while, and then TV Fanatic, which has given us accurate titles and episode descriptions for the last few episodes of Picard a few weeks in advance, has recently listed the first half of the first season of Strange New Worlds, corroborating the initial episode title leak, as well as providing episode 5, and giving us descriptions.

Because of the accuracy of their Picard listings, and their advance Prodigy S01 midseason finale promotional material, ‪‪I trust TV Fanatic as a source of information at this point.

Episode 101: “Strange New Worlds” (Available to stream Thursday, May 5th)

Series premiere. Captain Christopher Pike comes out of self-imposed exile to rescue an officer gone missing during a secret mission

Episode 102: “Children of the Comet” (Available to stream Thursday, May 12th)

An ancient alien relic thwarts the Enterprise crew from re-routing a comet on track to strike an inhabited planet.

Episode 103: “Ghosts of Illyria” (Available to stream Thursday, May 19th)

Una must confront a secret she's been hiding when a contagion ravages the ship, incapacitating the rest of the crew.

Episode 104: “Memento Mori” (Available to stream Thursday, May 26th)

Pike must find unconventional Starfleet methods to deal with a malevolent force that attacks the Enterprise.

Episode 105: “Spock Amok” (Available to stream Thursday, June 2nd)

A personal visit causes a comedy of errors during Spock & Pike's crucial negotiations with an unusual alien species.

I'm always happy to see the Enterprise crew trying to save planets instead of shaking their head and going 'well, I guess the Prime Directive says they all gotta die'.

Love it..! Even though ‘Strange New Worlds’ as an episode title would mean *another* ENT episode title getting reused… poor ENT!

Not exactly, the Enterprise episode is Strange New World, singular, and it won’t be the first example of Trek having titles being pluralized, or singularized, or adding or losing the indefinite article, to distinguish them from previous episodes.

The list is long at this point, with Demon and Demons, Brothers and Brother, The Survivor and The Survivors, Muse and The Muse, and Emissary and The Emissary, not to mention the movie First Contact coming after the episode First Contact.

Yeah, really. Maybe we can get through one season of Trek without the goddamn Directive being invoked and debated?
A finger on the monkey's paw curls. Picard season 2 begins playing on the nearest screen. Enjoy! ;)

It certainly sounds like it will be pushing serialisation into the background. I think it sounds great. A comedy of errors for the 5th sounds good to me in particular, but all of those sound cool.

“Spock Amok”… Brilliant!
A comedy of errors focused on Spock! I think that'll be my favorite of the season so far.

I really shouldn't get hyped based on just a handful of episode descriptions and titles but... I'm getting hyped based on just a handful of episode descriptions and titles.

The TNG ep was the First First Contact. But now we’ve got an episode called First First Contact too.

Excuse me as I now unpack a ten paragraph rant about Gene's Vision, my history as a Fan, Gene's Vision, how aggressive wokery is strangling modern society, Gene's Vision, the importance of Canon, and of course Gene's Vision.

And just to make sure no SJWs are upset, I promise to diss socialism, and talk about Gene's Vision.

Coming out of exile myself (first post in the SNW Forum!) to say this sounds interesting. A real chance to delve into Pike, which fits a first episode.

Episode 102: “Children of the Comet” (Available to stream Thursday, May 12th)

An oldie but a goodie.

Episode 103: “Ghosts of Illyria” (Available to stream Thursday, May 19th)

This is the episode I'm most interested in. A chance to show how Number One is different, and a chance to spotlight her in something longer than a Short Trek.

Episode 104: “Memento Mori” (Available to stream Thursday, May 26th)
Pike must find unconventional Starfleet methods to deal with a malevolent force that attacks the Enterprise.
Sounds like a different take on "The Corbomite Manuever". Pike having to think of tactics, that is. I'm assuming whoever he's up against will be a lot worse than Balok.

Episode 105: “Spock Amok” (Available to stream Thursday, June 2nd)
A personal visit causes a comedy of errors during Spock & Pike's crucial negotiations with an unusual alien species.
First comedy episode of the series. A fish-out-of-water experience. Spock is mentioned first in the description, so he must do something that seems logical that they take the wrong way, Pike tries to fix it, then makes it worse...

ooh boy. these all sounds really good.

Strange New Worlds is the fourth (fifth if you wanna count Enterprise's Strange New World (No s)) title to take its name from the Opening Monologue of TOS.

The First was TOS "Where No Man Has Gone Before" The Fifth movie was "The Final Frontier", the third is Enterprise's "These are the Voyages".
