It’s easy to feel down with all the crap going on. After two tiring years of pandemic Covid is still with us and not yet ready to go away. Covid’s impact on labour and production are causing shortages and frustrating delays in many things we need, and want. Now we’ve got inflation we haven’t seen in twenty years. Gas certainly isn’t cheap. And we’re on edge wondering if the insane war in Ukraine might spin into something bigger. We’re are tired, edgy and irritable.

For myself I’m trying to look at the positives. I’m not sick. I have a nice place to live and good food to eat. I’m not in debt. Work is not a grind and I have good coworkers. There are things I’d like, but I don’t really want for anything. It’s Spring and we can start venturing out without heavy coats to feel the sun and breeze on our face. I’m free to go wherever I want and not be afraid of being shot at or a missile dropping on my head.

There is always something to complain and worry about, but a lot more to be thankful for.

I am also impatiently waiting for spring to really and truly drop here in northern Illinois. A couple days have been near 70, but then it goes back down into the 40's.

I really don’t mind winter, but the warmer weather is welcome. It’s refreshing and makes you feel invigorated. When you get into March you’re thinking, “Okay, thats enough for awhile.”

Last week in So Cal, we had temps in the 90's. Getting a bit ridiculous here for those temps so soon in the season.

You looking at another dry year out there? It's been very rainy here for a recent April, but "global warming" keeps it cool into June most years.

I am always thankful for the good things I have. There's a reason why I give the news very limited amounts of my time; it's not the whole story. I more optimistic about humanity than I was even 15 years ago. And I'm grateful for that.

Fire season is now year-round. Snow pack is 63% of average statewide and as of today, half the state has only received 60-79% of normal rainfall. The rainy season has already ended.

Welcome to water restrictions...

That's Illinois, all right. I used to live in central Illinois but moved to the East Coast 30 years ago. I traded tornados for hurricanes.

At least up here in the north, the seasons changed drastically between 2001 & 2002. Longer cooler springs lasting until June, the heat lasting well into late August, still in the 70's in September and early October. Generally cooler summers and milder winters.
