Thanks! spouse started a Voy rewatch- we keep getting sidetracked. I notice something new everytime!

Morning guys,

It seems that POSTIMAGES pictures are simply gone from this website. At least that's what seems to be happening to them after a while so I suggest that everyone download the wallpapers they like ASAP. I have no better idea how to do this, PINTEREST has destroyed its services, and I don't know where else I could upload these pictures so that they actually stay here like the ones from Pinterest ...

I know we talked about this earlier and that some of you suggested a (presumably American) website, the name of which escapes me now, but if you remember I tried to register and it was impossible. If anyone has any ideas, I am open to suggestions.

And it might just happen that I will share the same picture twice, sorry about that. But with wallpapers gone, it'll also be more difficult to keep track of what has already been posted here and what has not.

That stinks, TE...
I think imgur was the image hosting site mentioned earlier.
That's the one where you couldn't register.

Flickr another I've used... long ago. About 15-20 years ago I used to take horse racing pics and I uploaded them there, loads and loads of them. AFAIK they are still there, though I haven't checked in about 14 years or so. You can upload ~1000 high res for free...

Maybe try that one?

That’s crummy, we really appreciate your work. If we get to enjoy them more than once that’s only a bonus!

I have my "masterpieces" at Imgur and it works fine. No problems so far.

May I display a little photo from the collection, a photo of my all-time favorites together:

I'm actually planning to include some of my Voyager-related photoshopped stuff on The Kes Website in the near future. They are too good and too funny to be hidden away.

Like this one:

Or maybe I start a thead here.

OK, I can never come up to the high standard of Thomas Eugene's high-class wallpapers but maybe some people will be amused.

Hello guys - and thanks for all the replies. Let's see them

Thanks CM. Imgur is just as bad as it was - it asks for my telephone number, which I am willing to provide (risking privacy and being hacked and all that ... :brickwall:) and of course, no 7-digit number arrives.

As for the other one, if you can only upload about 1,000 pics, it won't be good enough because I already have nearly 2,000 wallpapers and this number will hopefully only go up. Not to mention the fact that there are other pictures I would like to store somewhere ...

Actually I would be very happy just to keep all of them on my HDD but as far as I know, you can't upload them here directly from your PC.

That’s crummy, we really appreciate your work. If we get to enjoy them more than once that’s only a bonus!
Thanks, you are very kind. I am happy to share them and happy to see that people like them. Actually these days I barely have the time to make new ones so I might actually have to resort to uploading some of the old ones.

I wonder what the deal is with that expression on Harry's face.
The wallpaper above was made with this dialogue in my mind:

SEVEN: Lieutenant, Ensign.
KIM: Hey, Seven.
TORRES: Have some dinner. The potato salad isn't half bad.
SEVEN: I do not require nutrition at this time. I would like to talk with you.
KIM: Okay.
SEVEN: Ensign Kim, what is your place of origin?
KIM: You mean, where am I from? Well, I was born in South Carolina, but I grew up in
SEVEN: Lieutenant Torres, explain why you became a member of the Maquis.
TORRES: It was through Chakotay. I met him. Well, actually, he saved my life
SEVEN: List the sports you play.
KIM: I've dabbled in quite a few. Tennis, Pareses Squares, but my favourite is volleyball.
SEVEN: Specify the foods you find enjoyable.
TORRES: Seven, what is this?
SEVEN: Describe the nature of your sexual relationship with Lieutenant Paris.
TORRES: Okay, that's it.
EMH: Computer, freeze programme. Would you care to explain what you're doing?
SEVEN: I'm doing exactly what you instructed me to do.
EMH: I hardly think so. I created this programme to help you become more comfortable in social situations, not to practice alienating people.

Testing - photos.google.com
It does work! It's not that terribly difficult to share from google photos. Here is a link to easy instructions I found. Bonus is the pictures don't vanish according to the author of the article below.

How to obtain a direct link to an image in Google Photos for creating html image tag.
Now, I had absolutely no idea this one existed so thanks for pointing it out. However, the process sounds way too complicated to me - but this isn't even the most off-putting thing about it. I found it in my Google account and apparently it is already full of stuff that I shared with people via Gmail - I had no idea that sending a photo has this kind of consequence. God knows what would happen if I started removing pictures from there - and again, it says that it is nearly full so it's got a limited capacity it seems.

For the time being I'll stick to Postimages (and Pinterest ofc) but I'll think about which of the suggested ones would be the least bad solution. Probably that Imgur thing - the one that doesn't work ... meh ... :brickwall:
At any rate thanks to everyone for all the suggestions.

I have my "masterpieces" at Imgur and it works fine. No problems so far.

Blushing - and thanks. The more you do this kind of thing the more you are getting the hang of it, I can tell you! It is basically - to quote Depeche Mode  - A Question Of Time, of which, like I mentioned, I also seem to be having less and less. Btw, it's your fav episode next but things are progressing very slowly for the moment ...

At any rate that giant squirrel picture was funny. What was he doing with Janeway and Neelix?

You're right. I'm slowly getting better at Photoshopping and it's really funny and entertaining too.

As for the squirrel scenario, it's just a result of my twisted humor!

The squirrel is actually used for advertising by a Scandinavian company which produces toilet paper and similar stuff.

The company advertises their products as environmental-friendly and uses the squireel in those campaigns.

I just got a crazy hunch when I was discussing Voyager's posibilities to trade for what they neded in the Delta Quadrant and came up with the scenario below:

I posted a reply in the DS9 forum about the use of currency in the Federation but some things I wrote about there have some relevance to Voyager too.

It seems likeThe Federation has no currency or money system at all. It's sort of "replicate what you want and its yours" or so.

But on the other hand, there seem to be some strive for latinum, gold or other valuable things here and there.

Like when Chakotay encounter Paris on Voyager after arriving there for the first time:
CHAKOTAY: But you? What did you betray us for? Freedom from prison? Latinum? What was your price this time?

Why should Chakotay mention latinum if there was no need for such things?

Another thing which have struck me while watching Voyager is how Voyager and particularily Neelix manage to buy foodstuff or precious metals on other planets.

Now, what have Voyager to offer? Food from the Hydroponics Bay? Junk metal which they have collected from destroyed shuttles or from other planets? Or is Neelix constantly replicating counterfeit money from different planets which can be used as currency while trading.

And what would happen if the other part don't accept some Leola roots, pieces of metal or the Federation's best literature?

Let us see what happened when Voyager, in need of electronical components visited the planet Kurrus 3, home of the Ekorriii and were negotiating with their King Söör (pronounced as "sir")

JANEWAY: We would really like to buy those electronic whatsoevertechnobabbling components for our warp engines.
KING SÖÖR: Now what can you offer us in exchange? Do you have Hlaka nuts?
JANEWAY: (to Neelix) What is Hlaka nuts?
NEELIX: It's a big nut, the size of a head. The Ekorrii love them. Unfortunately, they grow on a planet in Kazon-Ogla space and I would suggest that we don't go there.
JANEWAY: I'm sorry King Söör but we don't have Hlaka nuts. But we can offer you other foodstuff from our Hydroponic Bay, like leola roots, Wood throk, Seltin wood fungus, Phu....
KING SÖÖR: Unacceptable! We want Hlaka nuts!
JANEWAY: Maybe your people would like to have some of the Federations best literature. I'm sure they would enjoy..........
KING SÖÖR: Nooooooo! We want Hlaka nuts! Bring us Hlaka nuts or we eat you instead!
NEELIX: Captain, I would strongly suggest that we beam up immediately and take our chances with the Kazon-Ogla instead!

S8jTXvC.png
"Ekorre" is squirrel in the Scandinavian languaues, hence the name of the people Janeway and Neelix are negotiating with and the name Söör is a slight rewrite of the name of a person I worked together with a couple of years ago who was called "Squirrel". He had a similar temper as the ruler of the planet above. ;)

Obviously he's currently planning something in the Alpha Quadrant.

Hm. That's odd. I never had to provide a phone number when I registered, but that was several years ago. Maybe that's a new requirement. Sounds like it didn't work for you anyway...
