Trek guest actors in maybe surprising roles

On tonight's great episode of The Monkees (1967-04-04), who should be the love interest this time?

None other than Julie Newmar!

Huh? I understand perfectly. You're looking for examples. I tried to get the list started with the first example that came to mind, with the expectation that others would chime in with further examples. Naturally no one person is going to be able to remember every single actor who qualifies. I happened to be aware of that one, so I tried to help.
Oh, I see. Well, as one of the few who do rely almost exclusively on memory, I was expecting someone to do some research first.

I'm not sure how you could research this particular question. I doubt anyone keeps written records of whether or not actors cock their eyebrows. It's more of a crowdsourcing kind of thing, just asking people to chime in if they happen to know an example, as I coincidentally did.

So this was pretty funny. I was just reading today's clutch of 'zine bits and newspaper clippings to the gang for the Eastern time showing of Trek (you're not too late if you want to join in!) and on Daniel Boone, a certain planetary governor appeared:

So, this is what is on just 10 minutes before "City on the Edge of Forever" rolls for the first time.

  1. (and if you miss the EDT showing, we're doing it again, 'zine readings and all, in 3.5 hours -- 8 pm PDT)
Edit: Thank you, @Donald G , for joining us! We hope you come for the final episode next week (and maybe for the summer reruns...)

I've known people with stranger passions.

The two in front look like Anthony Quayle and Keenan Wynn, while the guy in the back looks like a time-traveling David Caruso(no relation).
Errol Flynn on the left. I don't think I've seen any photo of Anthony Caruso looking so young, but 1945.

Aside from Douglas Henderson (later the recurring Col. Richmond in The Wild Wild West) as an uncredited paratrooper, I'm not sure I recognize any of the other names in the cast.

Really, Beaver?

Hugh Beaumont from Leave it to Beaver. At least his name leapt out at me. TBS ran Beaver when I was in junior high, so I probably watched it more than I care to admit. Also, SCTV might have burned Beaumont’s name into my brain.

I also noticed William Prince (Cyrano de Bergerac, Network), and Richard Erdman (Stalag 17), but those are among my favorite pictures.

But for such a large cast there are surprisingly few recognizable names.

If I'd known it was from 1945, and I admit I'm no expert and wouldn't have guessed, I'd have not bothered to speculate as to who the others were. I'm not half the film buff some think me to be.

Theo Marcuse gets his own ending credit page in this episode of Hogan's Heroes.

Amazing how many Jews end up playing Nazis. My favorite was Martin Landau playing Martin Bormann.

"Enough with this meshigos. Let's found the Fourth Reich already!"

A gold mine of Trek guests and other 60s TV stars show up in a western called "Ride Beyond Vengeance." Chuck Connors stars as a buffalo hunter coming home with his fortune after 11 years, only to get beaten and robbed just before he gets there, causing him to... ya know.
Trek guests featured are Kathryn Hays as his wife who thought him long dead; Paul Fix as an old rancher who (ironically) doctors him back to health; and Frank Gorshin as a slightly psycho ranch hand.

Check out the rest of the cast:

CometTV is running a 'Planet of the Apes' marathon and 'Beneath' is airing. I knew that James Gregory was in it as Ursus; however, I didn't realize Jeff Corey was in it as well as one of the Mutants on the council.
