Spoilers Season 3 Cast Announcement

No, but this discussion thread developed out of a conversation about how many of the new Pic cast will still be with us in S3, and the main point was that if S3 represents a final hurrah for the TNG cast, passing the baton to a new generation to take the franchise into the 25th century, it would make sense to leave as many as possible of the new cast standing, in order to have established characters to build on for any potential spin-off, rather than killing any of them off or leaving anyone behind in the 21st century. Why start again from scratch when so much groundwork has already been laid? Why cut off such potential in its prime?

But whether the producers see it that way or not remains to be seen.
The producers are afraid of the fan base. They will not kill off anyone.

Kid gloves.

It's....timey wimey.

Maybe. But everyone here seems convinced Rios will stay in 2024 and that because the old TNG cast are returning, the producers can feel free to do what they want with the current Pic cast, including killing half of them off, so for as long as people keep saying that, I will keep saying that I hope they won't, not least because it would be so short-sighted! Future-proof your franchise, producers!

Producers are not long thinkers. Even Star Wars Episode 1 struck all the sets after production, and destroyed them.

I don't think they will kill the cast but they won't come back either, necessarily.

I'm not saying they will or should come back (although I hope they do). I'm saying they should all be left on the table so that if, as seems likely, we get another show set in the 25th century, there is a stable of characters available to be revisited.

I'm not disagreeing either. I am just hesitant to say that they will. I think that they would be more likely to do a 25th century show with new characters than the current cast.

I'm really really hoping for a Capt. Rios show. I could see him Rafi and Elnor staying. Not sure if Ryan or Pill would tie themselves down long term though.

As I've mentioned before, I would love to see a spin-off with Seven and the Fenris Rangers attempting to turn the independent space of the former neutral zone into a functioning government state, with all the challenges and moral dilemmas that come with.

I don't really think he'll stay in 2024, but I couldn't pass up a good BTTF joke. The opening was right there. ;)

I'm disgusted by the whole rollout.

P+ is trying to hype S3 when Season TWO isn't even finished yet! It's a slap in the face to the current cast who worked so hard on it! :scream:

P+ dropped the ball on this one. :shifty:

Not only that, depending on the day of the week, SNWs forum has more activity than PICs

But it’s the same producers as season 1
Perhaps the term "showrunner" would be more appropriate.

Regardless, the current runners fear the fans and kowtow to them. Killing off characters is not likely to be in the cards and I'll be surprised if anyone dies permanently.

I wonder why they always show Enterprise D and not Enterprise E in Picard. The E was the last Enterprise that Picard commanded. So wouldn't it is better if they show the E rather than D?

Or maybe the Ent E does not exist in this new series? I mean Nemesis did happen, First Contact did happen. But Star Trek Generation didn't happen. And Picard still used Ent D in First Contact and Nemesis in this Star Trek Picard reality?
