TMP-DE fully restored in 4K…it’s about time!

That’s it. You can see it tucked behind the shuttle.

Is this it (in the red circle)?

I hope they're still working on this prior to the disc release, they totally borked one part of this shot. The lower left area underneath the building overhang is a frozen frame, and you can see people half cut off and people walk behind the dissolve. The color doesn't match (looks like the power windows setting was in the wrong spot maybe?) ...that corner is a shambles. And it's not an error that appears in the next wide shot when Kirk and Sonak are on the mini-escalator.

I'll be damned. I've watched TMP a billion times and have never noticed that! That's a cool lil easter egg there.
It’s a Director’s Cut easter egg, one I’ve never felt respected the original intentions of Wise, the effects artists or even the studio at that time.

Would prefer they had gotten rid of that wall/platform completely. Since it’s obvious the shuttles are too wide for the track with it there.

I watched about 20 minutes this morning on my iPad. (The joys and frustrations of having a toddler who does not like to sleep.) Maybe it was watching on my iPad or maybe because it was 4am but why do I feel like some of the travel pod shots with Kirk and Scotty visible look like they did back in the original release? The 2001 shots, I recall, looking better. Also the sparkly letters on the titles? Yikes

The Atmos mix on AirPod Pros is amazing though.

Speaking of easter eggs from TOS, I always liked how in the area of the ship that shows the past Enterprises, you can see the TOS pre-refit Enterprise. Now in 4K it's even clearer!

In that case, I've seen the DE a million times too (but just on DVD). Maybe it's the 480p resolution was too fuzzy for me to ever notice that TOS shuttle lol.

I was expecting them to add the NX ship in there, but that would probably cost too much. :)

Speaking of easter eggs referencing TOS, I always liked this one showing a picture of the TOS Enterprise (pre-refit) on the wall in that large meeting area on the ship. Thanks to this 4K remastered version it's really clear now. It was a bit fuzzy even on the non-DE 4K version. Granted, this screenshot is from my 1080p computer monitor since I don't know how to capture a screenshot from my 4K TV, but even here it's really clear.

As much as I like the TOS shuttlecraft easter egg it really shouldn’t be there as that wasn’t something planned for the film originally. That is something I wonder about in this project—them adding things just because they can, but were never planned to be there originally. I would have been really disappointed if they had added the NX-01 to the rec deck scene.

I will reserve judgment until I see the physical release myself in September, but some of the new shots here look maybe a bit too vivid or a bit too saturated in colour to my eyes. Makes it look a bit too cgi to me.

Now I just need to see this “3 hour” TV cut of the film. I might have the DVD somewhere

The “Special Longer Version” (aka the “3 hour cut” or the ABC TV version) is not on DVD. I even think laserdisc only has the theatrical cut. Only on VHS has the SLV I believe. Unfortunately.
