Funny, odd, amazing things in the ST Comics

And Dr Fonn's guards were based upon... original Mego 8" Gorn, the ones that were molded in brown using Marvel villain sculpt of The Lizard.

A bit like the lizard men from Jupiter Rising as well.

Gold Key tried a bit more to draw the Enterprise right than DC. But my favorite DC depiction of the Refit was on the cover where the Mirror/ISS Enterprise what’s firing on Excelsior.

The saucer was a bit too wide but I liked that inaccuracy/“artifact.”

Issues 63-64 of "Dreadstar" by Peter David featured wacky parody Star Trek characters, who were amazed to meet Cookie, who resembles the felinoid Lieutenant M'Ress (of Star Trek: The Animated Series). Peter had been ordered to dump his plans to continue using M'Ress in Series II of the Trek comic. Cookie popped up in "Dreadstar" when M'Ress vanished.

Are those the actual speech bubbles from the comic, or did you photoshop that yourself?

And the portrayal of the Richard Arnold surrogate character as a heavily-accented, hunchback dwarf. Subtle.

How about a bootleg Chinese adaptation of The Motion Picture, based on Rodenberry's novelisation and illustrated by someone with zero knowledge of Star Trek? Article here. Comic here.

Yep. Ilia played by Sarah Douglas (Ursa of "Superman: The Movie" and "Superman II").

There is a much better rendition of the ST-TMP San Francisco Tram Station (flipped) in a "Star Wars" comic by the same bootleg group. (Chewbacca is played by a chimpanzee.) Scroll down to Frame 91.

Peter Pan has a fantastic story where the crew begins to meow and snarl XD

I was able to get the gist of it using the Google Translate app on my smartphone. It's an awkward way to read, but it got the job done.

I repeat: We really need to find someone fluent in Chinese to post a translation for us. A computer's best guess is not as good as the real thing.
