It is possible to read how those events take place from different sites so it's possible to have some kind of understanding of the situation without watching the episode.

You’re seeing a handprint, not the hand.

I think it’s very strange.

Personally I don’t feel anything in Picard was done for shock value. It was at times shocking, but not as a means and an end unto itself.

You’re probably right not to watch it right now. It sounds like you’ve got a lot of other people crowding your own opinion out of your head. I have to say as well that it seems you’re not reading a very broad spectrum of reviews. Only the ones that agree with your own preconceived opinions of a show you haven’t seen.

It’s a paradox alright is this one.

I ask yourself and the board, in it’s literal form as a place of open discussion one question. In all seriousness, ’Which came first, The Posters Opinion or The Reviewers Opinion?’

Do you think this moaning of mine might turn into "what was I thinking, this is awesome" ?

Don't care one way or another (I have quite a few problems with season one, finding it very average). I just think it is poor form to judge something without experiencing some of it.

Hard to say at this point.

Still working my way through Discovery, which I find generally fine. Looking back, I ranked both of the first two seasons highly compared to those of the other shows - yet at the same time, I feel no particular inclination to rewatch them. Plenty of time for that to change, inshallah.

I've seen the first season of Lower Decks, working my way through S2. Again, I like it well enough. In fact, I'd probably give that one my vote as of now.

Disliked Picard's first season as a whole outside of a few individual moments. Second season premiere was very promising - hopefully it maintains that level of quality and more.

I'm glad that Prodigy exists for younger fans, but I see no reason to watch it myself as a 30-year-old man.

So, upthread, I mentioned the tie was finally broken for me between DSC and PIC, but I didn't say which one I went with because I didn't want to until I could properly articulate it.

I like both, but I have to go with saying: Discovery is my favorite Current Trek Series.

Why? The reason I went with what I went with is pretty basic. It doesn't even involve spoilers. Someone here said of PIC Season 2, "This is MY Star Trek!" I'm paraphrasing but that's the idea. But it helped me to be able to figure out something that was in the back of my mind. Discovery is my Star Trek, but Picard feels like someone else's Star Trek dressing up like my Star Trek. PIC makes it an interesting looking combination, but I have to go with what feels like mine, not someone else's. If that makes sense.

It does TOTALLY make sense. Although I like J-LP better.

Actually, DISCO would have rated higher, except you simply DO NOT take a Bond girl (Michelle Yeoh) and kill her in the second episode, only to resurrect her later, in a mirror universe.

I hate mirror universes.

It demonstrates an incapacity for thinking.

Lower Decks, but from what I've seen in clips and next-episode teasers, Picard season 2 is making me tempted to resubscribe so I can see this on day 1.

Mirror universes make it too easy to cobble up whatever schlock, but I've seen a few shows where they use a parallel world and it's handled very nicely. But I'll be the first to agree - DS9's use of the MU did nothing for me, and by the end they went back and forth between the two the same way one opens a door to a fridge.

Picard for me. I like most of the characters and the writing is solid aside from failing to stick the landing in season one.

I loved the first two seasons of Disco, but the third was pretty grating and I haven't got around to seeing the fourth.

Lower Decks...I just don't get the fuss. The characters don't appeal to me and the second season was rarely funny.

No interest in Prodigy.

LD would still get my vote had I not cast it way back when, but everything I've seen from PIC season 2 so far is tempting to make me reconsider as I didn't expect to enjoy it, much less be so enamored in how they did it (so far)...
