Spoilers Captain Rios series?

Okay I know many are into this idea so what would everyone like to see if they did this? My idea is his ship is set to be the first Federation ship to explore a alternate universe and the universe is the Kelvinverse in the 25th century. The ship is a mix crew of Starfleet from the prime universe and Starfleet from the Kelvinverse.

The main crew is

1 Captain Rios

2 First Officer Raffi

3 Jurati Science Officer

4 Laris from Kelvinverse who is a Federation Ambassador from Kelvinverse

5 Worf Ambassador from Prime Universe

6 Picard's son from Kelvinverse as second officer and operations officer. He most of a reckless wildard type who doesn't get along with his dad. His mom died when he was young on a Starfleet mission.

7 New Alien that has wings and can fly as chief engineer. Has no emotions most of the time unless he or she uses a drug which he or she has chosen to do often for this mission. Doesn't like having emotions. From Kelvinverse. Has to deal with conflict from others in engineer who had their chief engineered replaced for this mission and they liked her.

8 Vulcan doctor from Kelvinverse. He or she was raised by Ferengi parents. Likes profit but also has a big heart which is why they wanted to become a doctor.

The bridge crew which would be the Bajoran lady, the black communication officer and trill guy would also be bridge personal much like the ones on Discovery even though they might not technically be series regulars. plus 2 more from the Kelvinverse.

I'm sure they'll want to use those expensive-looking sets after Picard is finished. But IIRC there was noise of a series set on board the USS Republic being developed. Probably another 25th century ship with identical corridors and sets.

I'm fine with only ever one "crew on a starship explration mission" at the same time. This will be "Strange New Worlds" (ever since DIS did... whatever it does now).

I'd even be more interested on a "La Sirena" show - even if that's just "Firefly"/"Solo" in the Trek universe. At least it would be unique.

Regarding the bridge set - we're gonna' see that again. A 24th century bridge set just makes sense if oyu have several Trek series running around. It can be used for the Academy series. For DIS / SNW, either as alien or as Federation bridges with just slight modifications.

I'm all for a Seven show as well. That's why I didn't include her in my show idea. I figure she would have her own show. Only issue is a Seven show feels very much what the Gerogiou Section 31 show might be. IMO the Section 31 show show be junked for the Seven show. You have the Tilly at Starfleet Academy plus Pike on the Enterprise, Seven in the 25th century and the Stargazer in Kelvinverse though still being connected to Prime. That would be a 23rd century two 25th century shows, with one in another universe and then one set far in the Discovery future setting. Each time period represented.

Surely it would be cheaper to break up and ship the actors:lol:

Good point!
Though I'll bet they are willing to share cast & crew between the shows (aka fly the actors to LA for a weekend and let their LA crew film a few scenes & then return to Canada for the majority of filming with the main crew)

I would love a Captain Rios series, and I bet it would be called "Star Trek Stargazer." Haha!

I feel like the Season 2 premiere of Star Trek Picard is partly being used to gauge fan reaction to both a Captain Rios spinoff and whether the rumored Starfleet Academy show would be popular in this time period (versus the 32nd century).

Rios would also have a lot of spanish speaking muchachos and chicas on his ship.

And a proper Bartender of course...

I would love more episodes with the other Picard characters. There are some very good characters on the show.

Need to see more than one episode of him in the center seat before determining whether it would interest me long term.

I would much rather have a Rios as a privateer aboard La Sirena than on Stargazer. But that’s just me.

I think the actor has done a fine job which is why I like the idea plus I feel like he would be a unconventional Captain , which is the appeal. For some reason the idea of him being a Captain and maybe having some other unconventional Starfleet types on the show makes me think it could be a New Frontier type of Trek show with Rios making me think of Captain Calhoun.

As much as I think the La Sirena is an ugly and terrible hero ship, I would much rather have Rios on that ship leading an unconventional crew, than once again return to the Starfleet fold as if that was the only spacefaring career path.

My issue with that is it could just feel like a pale Firefly knockoff. I kind of like taking that unconventional spirit and putting it in a straight forward Starfleet setting such as Starship. which I know then sort of apes The Orville but I think the Rios version would be a little more gritty.

Why not have a Firefly style in Star Trek? Firefly was created to reflect the planets that the Enterprise skipped over. So, why not reverse that again and explore it inside the Trek universe? Sounds interesting to me. And showing life outside Starfleet as a viable possibility rather than the whole of Trek centered on Starfleet.

I'm not against the idea. I think I would just like to see this new time period filled out first. I think one of the reasons DS9 worked was because TNG created lots of groundwork in terms of creating the look and feel of the 24th century. Once the the universe is filled out that is when you start exploring the darker and more mysterious angles of it. PLus I would like them to something that gives them a spin from what Firefly is doing. Just not sure what that would be as of yet.

Firefly was always anti-authoritarian. The spin is to be a part of the larger universe, either as a courier, or archaeological expedition, or something similar. I think if you want to do the groundwork series with a 25th century ship then do that show-just not with Rios.
