The Action Figure and Toy Collecting and Discussion Thread!

I do like that they made the helmet as an actual hollow helmet to fit over the character's head, instead of as a completely separate head to switch out like other recent figures. Though I understand it makes sense to do the helmet as a separate head if the character's hairdo in its plastic form wouldn't fit into a properly scaled helmet.

Kor
Yeah, that's the toughest part. I prefer removable helmets to heads, because swapping out full heads is extremely difficult in doing customs.

These three figures are Target exclusives.
I wonder if it will even be possible to snag one in a Target store. Target.com has sold out on preorders, and so have other sites. And now they're listed at high prices on the secondary market. As much as I want the Koska Reeves and Axe Woves figures, I really don't want to have to pay $50 each or more.

Hopefully it will be a situation where they eventually end up with a bunch of them warming the pegs, like what happened with certain other store exclusives. Or maybe that will only happen with one character. For instance there seem to be a lot of the Wal-Mart Carbonized Moff Gideons around, close to retail price. But Carbonized Cara Dune is going for around $35.

My friend and I got our orders in and the 1980s TV cartoon Droids C-3P0 has hit at least one Target in my area and I have it but yeah, Targets are getting to be almost as bad as Walmarts when it comes to stocking their Hasbro Star Wars exclusives. It used to be pretty easy to score most Target exclusive figures and vehicles but U.S. brick-and-mortar retail has just gotten sloppy, and this trend predates COVID being any factor in the product supply chain.

Yeah, Target's around here have been pretty poor with their distribution of Star Wars. I didn't see the exclusive Antoc Merrick X-Wing which I am super disappointed about. I have a feeling they just don't get spread out very far, and then the sales don't reflect it so they don't bother shipping them to those stores.

With everything as an almost computer based model for stocking it wouldn't surprise me if the stores that sell them just keep getting them, and that's directly impacted by the secondary market, as people rush out, buy a bunch, and resell it.

We got at least one shipment if not two of the Antoc Merrick X-Wing but not the 6" Black Series Antoc Merrick figure nor the 6" Galen Erso. Both were supposed to be released around Thanksgiving but never showed up at any Target in this country so far as I've seen.

I've seen a couple of the animated 3POs in the wild. And at one Target recently I saw IG-11 and Emperor Palpatine. In hindsight I should have gotten both, but I only thought to get the IG-11. I'm not a completist, mainly I like to have at least one good version of a character in each of their costumes. And I thought I already had a good Palpatine figure somewhere. But when I went through my figures at home later, I saw it's the one from 2003 Saga line, all molded plastic and can't sit down.

One character that brick-and-mortar stores seem to have plenty of is Lando Calrissian, both the Black Series and Vintage Collection figures!

Yeah, that's peg warming hard which drives me nuts. I managed two Carbonized Incinerator troopers for a decent price but I have better luck at Game Stop than Target for variety.

Even though Game Stop is frequently mentioned in discussions about action figures, I keep forgetting that they sell figures, as I haven't been inside one in years. So in my head they still only have games. I'll have to check one out this weekend.

What? No gazelle figurines?
Those are for speeches.

The website is decent, and will give you a feel of the mix.

I'm afraid you'll have to give me a little hint here, as I am only at the end of season 1 and so far no gazelles have appeared.
But the fun thing is, for Valentine's Day I made a picture with an Orion woman, before I knew that they really were in Enterprise!

And today I customized Janeway and Chakotay in grey shirts. I hope I got the color right, it's difficult to mix, and also often looks different on screen. Sometimes more grey-blue, sometimes more lilac. I used a grey with a bit of red and white to make it lighter.

I also kept the original arms so I can switch out short or long sleeves look. Two birds with one stone!

Before:

Cutting off the turtle neck collar.

Cutting off extra jacket creases.

Filling the holes to make a smooth surface.

Hope I got the color right, it's not easy to mix. I used grey, a bit of red to make it lilac and a bit of white to make it lighter.

New possibilities! I could make the scene from "Night"...

... or they can just drink coffee in a relaxed atmosphere.

I don't remember who made this collage, sorry:

Those are great! Love the more casual feel the grey makes

Thank you! Although I hadn't realized that the long sleeve shirt is actually the turtle neck, so the arms don't work with the version I made. Ah well.

I also realized that Kathryn is not wearing her combadge in some of the pictures. I can always digitally remove it if necessary. Wouldn't want a private Captain's dinner with Chakotey interrupted by a Red Alert, would we? LOL

Stay tuned for season 2, I think in the first or second episode. It is a classic moment. :techman:

Kor

Thank you! I'll look for it then! Can't be long now, my last episode was the one with the desert.

Very nice! But it doesn't really need its own thread. Since it's about LEGO, it can go in the Toy discussion thread, which I am going to move it to now. :)

(For future reference, you could also put something like this in the Picture Post thread.)

Oh OK ....... I didn't think it would b suitable as a picture but the toy thread is OK .. Forgot about this thread......
The models are mostly glued together

Saw these today in a store I have almost never gone into... They're not whole models but made of actual lego pieces.
Lego Group does a damn impressive work for these promos. They did a similar project with Bag End and an X-wing for different promotions. I really like it when they do so, as it demonstrates the versatility of the brand, even if it is an insane amount of bricks.
