What are your controversial Star Trek opinions?

One prequel that would really interest me -- besides DSC's first two seasons -- would be a Star Trek series that takes place immediately after the 2063 portion Star Trek: First Contact.

A Star Trek series that would take place in the Mid-21st Century would be something really different. Then to anyone who'd say "It doesn't feel like Star Trek!", I'd say, "It's not supposed to!" You'd be seeing how world powers not too far removed from our own would react to aliens. And competing coalitions within those same world powers.

If we get another prequel, I’d rather explore that “lost era” between The Undiscovered Country and Encounter at Farpoint. See how the Federation and Starfleet transitioned from the era of Kirk and Spock to the era of Picard, Sisko and Janeway.
A midquel? I like the idea. Make it an anthology series about the explorations of the Enterprise B and C, plus other ships.

With Strange New Worlds coming out, I wouldn’t have a second series focus on an Enterprise.

That being said, it could be cool to do a series in that era between the TOS films and TNG and feature the Enterprise-B with Alan Ruck’s Captain John Harriman.

Ruck’s a great actor, and there’s a lot of built in character baggage for him, from trying to both live up to Kirk’s legacy, and to live with his guilt over Kirk’s dying on his watch during the B’s maiden voyage.

I'm torn on thinking Kirk smashing the Enterprise through the energy barrier in "Where No Man Has Gone Before" was okay or needlessly reckless. There's a thing out there that they don't know what it is, so let's start poking it. A lot of people may have died just because he didn't want to wait. 11 people's family lost loved ones. Would they have ever known what the barrier could do unless they had gone through it? Was the only clue that it would fry people with ESP's brains the fact that it fried people with ESP's brains? I could go either way. Risk is their business.

Isn't that like 3/4ths of all Star Trek episodes, though? Meddling and taking risks with stuff they don't actually understand? :)

Doctor Pulaski's best thing happen to TNG, Crusher shouldn't come back and replace her. Only few special guest appearances would be fine.

TNG is weakest series out of "Classic" franchise.

Kirk's death in Generations was satisfactory.

My grandpa: Rise of DS9's popularity was the reason why we got shows like Discovery. (He dislikes DS9 and Discovery strongly)

With Generations 28 years old, we’d be set for an Admiral Harrison being the Necheyev to the Enterprise B’s third/fourth Captain if it’s set vaguely real time after the B’s maiden voyage.

With about 9/10 years before the Enterprise C launches, you could have a Lieutenant Garrett in the crew too.
