Booker ship

I think it’s a very underrated design… imo it’s one of the coolest ships ever..!

I know right? Trespassing on Doctor Who's turf like that!
I was referring to VOY. But speaking of VOY, Book's ship is basically the equivalent of the Delta Flyer. If Burnham commandeers it, though, she might name it:
Captain's Prerogative
Might Makes Yacht

I have no problem believing that the ship doesn't have a name, because naming things is really hard. Grudge should grateful she wasn't just called 'Book's cat'.

That said, it'll always be the Grudgebringer to me after reading this thread.

Book's ship is basically a glorified civilian shuttlecraft.

Shuttlecraft have traditionally received names!

Why would it even need a name?

Because one of the most basic creative conceits of Star Trek is that ships get anthropomorphized a little bit by giving them names. It wasn't "Large Shuttle #1" -- it was the Delta Flyer. It wasn't "the only indestructible runabout" -- it was the Rio Grande. It wasn't "that fast shuttle that broke warp 10" -- it was the Cochrane. When Spock led the landing party that crashed, the episode wasn't entitled "The Shuttle #1 Seven" -- it was "The Galileo Seven." Etc.

It's not the biggest deal in the world, but Book's ship is such a unique ship, and is so much a part of who he is as a character and does so much to establish the world of the 32nd Century, that I think it's a real shame it doesn't have a name. It feels like Malcolm Reynolds not bothering to name Serenity, or Han Solo not calling it the Millennium Falcon.

As I recall, Chakotay and Neelix's ships didn't have names ever spoken on air, either.

Actually, they did:

Chakotay's ship was the Val Jean, and Neelix's was the Baxial.

Those names might not have been actually spoken, as such, but they were listed on readout screens, and that makes them official.
