Spoilers Book of Boba Fett [Spoiler Discussion]

So I wonder if Cobb Vanth ended up surviving. Sorry if it's already been discussed, I haven't read all the posts from the last several pages. From the dialog, the townsfolk were talking about trying to get a medic for him or something like that.

Basically. Especially in the power vacuum created when the Empire fell. Many requirements suddenly arose for muscle or special missions in a galaxy where the once-omnipresent Imperial military was no longer around to enforce a semblance of order.

There’s nothing done or said onscreen that comes near to confirming this. He’s just hanging around the same as countless other lowlifes are.
He drew his weapon on Boussh/Leia when she revealed she had a thermal detonator instead of just high-tailing it out of there as fast as possible.

He defended Jabba's sail barge and actively assisted in carrying out Jabba's orders to execute Luke & Han when they started fighting back, when he could have just high-tailed it out of there.

The inference is that he's talking about his time serving with Jabba (among others) when he suggests that he no longer wants to work for idiots who treat their kind like expendable cannon fodder.

He was serving as muscle for Jabba as far back as ANH when he backed Jabba up as he threatened Solo, so he's been working with him for years.

He said Jabba's number two Bib Fortuna betrayed him and killed Fortuna for doing it.

He feels a sense of ownership over Jabba's daimyo like he is entitled to it which speaks to him investing a great deal of time and energy into that organization and possibly being part of its hierarchy.

I stand comprehensively corrected. I can’t disagree with any of that! :-)

Yeah, Cobb's definitely still alive.

If you kill off a big guest star like that, you show a closeup on them as they're dying. The ambiguous distance shot says it all; they're concealing that he's still alive.

As you say, the townspeople were calling for "stims", which you give to someone you're trying to revive who still has a chance.

Cobb was left alive to carry the threat from the Pykes to their enemies, so he got one shot to the shoulder. The punk-ass deputy was made an example of, so he got five or six shots center mass.

Cobb is most likely going to be back for the final battle, whether still injured or healed in the bacta tank.

Yeah because gangsters are always totally cool with heavily armed randos with a history of disintegrating and/or capturing wanted criminals hanging around for no reason. ;)
Come on now. It's Jabba's court. By definition, everyone there is working for him and his kajidic in some capacity or another.

But if you insist on an explicit citation; Jabba offering Boba the gig is literally how the recent 'War of the Bounty Hunters' arc in the comics ended.
Cobb better be alive, if for no other reason than to fix the continuity error of the position he was lying in.
He only got hit in the shoulder. He'll live.
If he's dead, they would have made it WAY more explicit.

I'll be honest and say I don't know why they decided to do a show about Boba Fett when honestly the series The Mandalorian pretty much gave us older Star Wars fans a character who was pretty much how we expected Boba Fett to be in the original trilogy oh, and for Mira did a really good job at it.

And bringing the character of Din directly into The Book of Boba Fett for two full episodes where Boba Fett is not shown at all, really highlights how true the situation is in that Din is what we originally expected Boba Fett to be.

It's pretty talented of the creative forces to give us two shows about characters who are completely unlikeable ciphers.

I like that the Book of Boba Fett is about characters changing and trying to take a different path, with Boba going from henchman to boss, Fennec going from assassin to advisor, and Mando going from a bounty hunter with a Razor Crest to whatever he's turning into, but I feel like they really missed an opportunity to show us the old Boba in the bacta tank flashbacks. That way we would've had a much better idea of what his job was, why he feels betrayed, and how much his rebirth with the Tuskans has changed him.

The series did eventually introduce Mando doing his bounty hunter thing to give us an idea of what Boba was up to a few years ago, but I think that kind of backfired as people would rather watch him now.

I see on Youtube they've moved from comedy dubs of the scooter chase to repositioning Cad Bane's mouth.
