What are your controversial Star Trek opinions?

No, the first time Qo'nos (or, in TUC, "Kronos") was mentioned was in the 1991 release of the film. In earlier TNG outings, we heard "Kling" or the generic "The Klingon Homeworld" or...even worse...the "Commander, set course for the First City of the Klingon Imperial Empire" line from Picard.

I could have sworn it was used in "Redemption"...

Controversial Opinion: Since they're making so many Star Trek series, I think they should have a Riker Series. Note that I don't necessarily mean a Titan Series. You could have a cooking show: Making Pizza With Riker. You could have a rom-com: The Trois. The possibilities for unconventional Star Trek series are endless and he could pull those off.

I'm not sure how serious you are about this, but if there's three Star Trek characters I don't want to see heading their own shows, then it's Troi, Riker and/or Worf. We had enough of those three, imho.

If we're really going with trying to replicate all of the "flavors" of Trek which used to be in individual episodes, that means we should have a series which replicates the "appeal" of romance-of-the week, but in long-form. :barf:

It's going to be called "Love Beyond Time and Space". The intro will be one of those 1980s saxophone songs that sound like they're straight out of some soft porn movie. The main character will be a 30-something female Star Fleet officer with gigantic late 80s/early 90s hair who falls in love with some new, strange Alien hunk in every episode. Those will include one of those Candle Ghosts from Sub Rosa, an energy life form from a higher plane of existence, a Gorn, a Klingon etc.
Whenever it actually gets to a sex-scene the picture will dissolve into scenes of them frolicking across a meadow, shot in soft focus and set to more of that saxophone music.

Not very. I thought of it on a whim.

But, at the the same time, it's not April Fool's Post fodder. So it's something.

We all know that if you're going to have floating holographic UI, you need "SOLID" backgrounds, not transparent ones.

Otherwise readibility is crap. Gundam 00 got that concept right when they used holographic UI.
Kovich had an opaque tricommbadge screen in the last Disco episode, it was "privacy mode" so people couldn't read from the other side:lol:

But you also have to add in a "Mr. Big" style off-again on-again partner she keeps coming back to in between the trysts.

You know, to serialize it.

‪‪‪‪I’m very down with this. With the current capabilities of streaming there’s a great opportunity to explore every aspect of the Trek universe with almost any kind of show imaginable, and what’s more Trek than Infinite Diversity in Infinite Combinations?

Well, yeah, in the “controversial opinions” thread.

Speaking for myself, I’d much rather watch TATV than, say, Shades of Grey, Sub Rosa, Fury, Threshold, or Lights of Zetar, to name a few off the top of my head. Hell, I’d rather get my molars pulled than watch Sub Rosa ever again.

"Shades of Grey(TNG)" is objectively worse than "TATV..." Not as big an insult the series of which it's a part, but waaaaaaay lazier and more boring.

"TATV..." may not even be THE worst episode of ENT. "Precious Cargo" is as close to actual excrement as any probably come and doesn't even have the added value of a cool ending sequence or a misfired gimmick plot. "TATV..." is awful and has a million problems, but none of them are "painfully boring" and "intellectually insulting."

i'll burn them all on dvds (i'll throw in spock's brain and a few more) and happily set fire to those but tatv is by far the worst trek ever - i normaly just pretent it doesn't exist

The Outrageous Okona.

I respect your opinion but at that point isn't it kinda like choosing whether you'd rather step in a reeking pile of dog shit or a reeking pile of cat shit?

"Shades of Grey(TNG)" is one extended clip show and not even great clips that add anything to the story. A mediocre story. Riker in Sickbay while stock footage fills most of that 46 minutes may be the lowpoint of all Berman Era Trek that doesn't involve racist stereotypes about Africa.
it's really bad but i can just pidgenhole it under 'clipshows, damned' and be done with it - tatv is a series finale, ffs
