THE ORVILLE Season Three...

In Canada, cable is 90cad a month (over a thousand dollars a year). Amazon Prime, Netflix, Disney, and Crave together are about 600 dollars a year. I also do Sportsnet and DAZN for a few months at a time. So for less than cable, I get pretty much everything my family needs through streaming for less than a "reasonably priced" cable package.

That sounds ideal in a tech-savvy household. But for one that still pays for cable, they're all an additional expense on top of that, and often there's no option as everything moves to streaming services, leaving those still paying for cable in an expensive lurch.

You still haven't explained why you pay for cable?

And why should I have to explain myself? I have my reasons. I live with my parents who are not tech-savvy, and for them, accessing regular cable is much easier than having to rely on service upon service and remember password upon password and paying for individual services. When you deal with older generations of people, the more modern approaches aren't always the easiest.

For us, it's partly less tech savvy portions of the family (and freeview signal isn't as good as we'd like) and the cable/net are a package deal

That's definitely part of it. Options tend to be limited in Canada.

Heck, I haven't been able to get Crave working on any of my devices, but it works on the cable box. If I can't get it working, my parents don't have a hope in hell.

Should I watch it? I have never seen it. I am caught up on all Trek except for Discovery season 4, but am waiting until whole season is over. I have to watch season 5 of Expanse yet, but am looking for something with a lighter tone right now. I was about to, but it looks like there will be no season 4. Sounds like Seth McFarlane is done with it. He wants to kill his character off, but Hulu doesn't want it. Should I invest my time on a limited show?

I don’t know we’re you read those rumors, but they are completely made up rumors.

Give it a try, many Trek fans are loving it. It starts ok and then really improves, so the first episodes aren’t the best ones.

Definitely. I would recommend the two seasons we have, even if we weren't getting a third.

If you're looking for something with a lighter tone, I think you'll like The Orville. It's funny, but there's also a lot of heart and the characters are great. Be aware - it did take a few episodes to find its footing.
