Why did SNW alter the Enterprise bridge?

I have no problem believing that DSC's version of the Enterprise bridge is how it "really" looked. I'm already imagining that every episode of TOS happened on that bridge.

IMHO, TOS-to-DSC is a change that doesn't need to be explained; this one does.

And even if we don't get to see Kirk himself one of the last things Pike should do before returning to Drydock or Spacedock for the transfer of command ceremony is point out how they just installed a bunch of new systems and they need to get back to Earth with care. Jim Kirk is expecting a working and shiny ship.

The only reason I would ever want to see Kirk turn up in SNW is so we could see his first meeting with Spock.

There's also the Farragut disaster, but then they'd have to explain why KIrk and Pike don't meet. (That doesn't happen until Pike actually turns over command of the Enterprise to Kirk.)

The Farragut disaster has probably already happened. The second half of DSC Season 1 took place in that year, which probably means Season 2 passed by it.

I guess I'm a bit more of a literalist than most. I mean, if the corridor suddenly vanishes in between DSC and SNW, I'd hope for an explanation. How can they just pretend it was never there? Was it ever there?
The same way a new door was added to the Enterprise bridge in TAS. Or the Enterprise-D’s view screen was replaced, and the two forward consoles were rotated.

Set changes happen all the time without explanation.

I think Voyager got a new carpet at one point.

Not everything is worthy of an explanation.

Hopefully we get the TOS bridge by the end

not only the bridge, the whole ship should be TOS proper by the last frame of the series finale.

I have no desire to see Kirk on Strange New Worlds. I think there is more than enough changes to keep this crew going without adding it more minutia.

They won’t be able to help themselves. I have a feeling we could see Kirk as early as the S1 finale. Sorta how they dropped the Discoprise into the Disco S1 finale.

And? That doesn't impact my desire. I'll drop the service and ignore it. Pike may be my dream series captain lead but some lines ain't worth it.

I’m not convinced that they’re going to go that route anyway. Nostalgia is rampant in SNW for sure, but they could’ve done a lot more to make this an exact TOS clone if that’s what they wanted, and ‪‪I don’t think it is.

‪‪I get the feeling the people making SNW, while they’d be giddy about using Kirk, also have a lot of faith in Anson Mount and his Pike, and his relationships with Number One and Spock.

Maybe we’ll see Kirk on SNW eventually, but I’d be really surprised to see him early on. ‪‪I’d rather we not see him, and they take the opportunity to make the series stand on its own with its own cast as much as possible.

I’m not advocating for Kirk at all. I don’t think we should see him just like I don’t think Disco should have brought in Spock.

I just don’t think the producers will be able to let it be.

They could meet sooner if Pike stays in command of the Enterprise after being promoted to Fleet Captain. Then Kirk stays on board for a special (2 part episode) mission.

Probably not. Does not change my opinion.
