^ My guess would be because from some angles it looks like a bird. Especially those two last shots.

In that final image it looks like a bird of prey (of the not-Romulan-or-Klingon genus!) with its wings upstretched, swooping in for its dinner.

If you imagine it without the saucer with only the secondary hull and the nacelles, it has a shape kind of like a swooping bird of prey.

The same treatment Giger did with the ALIEN head, just upside down. Maybe insect eye/facet it a bit?

Agree with @publiusr, it seems a bit largish to be such a huge undifferentiated surface. She’s your beauty but I’d be curious to see what the deflector assembly looks like without the Perspex hood.

Understandable, but the texture on the glass surface will take care of the large unremarkable void. Just haven't gotten around to it.
