What are your controversial Star Trek opinions?

Yes, the damndest thing is that even as a villain, she manages to be boring. I think the show would have been greatly improved if they had fired them both (Kes and Kim) and hired someone else to fill the void (in addition to Seven).

Better writing for the characters they had would have good a long way towards improvements.

Here's my controversial opinion, brace yourself. Of all the Captains in the Star Trek TV shows, I think Picard comes off as the worst one, it may just be because of Patrick Stewart's British accent and stuff, but he always came off as a know it all whenever I saw that show, I really wish they replaced him with Riker as Captain of the Enterprise as I prefer his personality more than Picard's.

It's not so controversial IMO, Picard is a pompous ass (as said by one character in the show) and often over the top. I mean the thing that irritates me the most about him is his behavior toward Q. He treats him like dirt but at the first problem he goes down on his knees to beg Q's mercy. That's imbecility personified IMO. If he were a little less shortsighted he'd refrain to treat Q like dirt in the first place.
You don't say "Get off my bridge!" to someone that can throw yourself and your entire crew into turmoil without breaking a sweat. That's just stupid!

He means that a standard HD ("high definition") definition display (1920✕1080 pixels) stretches the standard definition videos (720✕480) and makes them blurry as a result.
Thank you! I didn't know that either.

I'm very visual, so I appreciate crispness and a "pretty" picture. I'm also a music person, so great sound is a Must for me. Various experiences have taught me that I have a bit more ability to hear subtleties than other people. However, I know very little of the technical aspects. I just always try to have the best sound and picture quality I can afford. In my wildest dreams, I'd love to have an audiophile music system. :)

Jumping in the deep end, are we?

I'm a classically trained musician. Oh very much the sound matters. I get it.

I think my most controversial Star Trek opinion has to be:

Everything made before 1989 – The Original Series, The Animated Series, TNG seasons one and two, and all movies before Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country – are only "broad strokes canon". It more-or-less happened, ish, but specific details are not shown accurately, and problematic lines, scenes, performances, characters, effects, designs, etc can be safely ignored.

Yes, I'm afraid that means I regard Voyager and Enterprise as "more canonical" than The Original Series.

Oh – and Star Trek V: The Final Frontier never happened at all.

Now you've done it...
