It's from Star Trek The Next Conversation.
Ah, thanks for the explanation. I was sure I was missing something in your post. Didn't even know that one existed. :bolian:

Matt is also Matt Mira from After Trek. Personally, I love TNC! But Matt is not super popular 'round these parts.

Seriously guys, he's really fun! He was just so nervous on After Trek, oh man. I felt so bad for him.
He was a bit hyper in After Trek, but I actually rather enjoyed him as the host. He seemed like a genuinely enthusiastic fan, which is pretty cool to have for such a format. I never really got why people hated on him so much either.

The format for their podcast is fun. He is a seasoned fan and Andy has never seen Tng and they approach each episode as TV writers, and the podcast itself is charmingly slapped together without a lot of editing and they are argumentative, dorky bffs. It's the only podcast I actually listen to because they don't take themselves seriously at all. I think people were put off by how enthusiastic he was on TV, and came off as like... a cringy nerd. He hated himself on the show too :(

The usual suspects are claiming this episode ripped off a RedLetterMedia skit (which was mocking discovery), because they also did a situation where they had to release all the hull plating.

Ugh, this showed up in my recommendations and I was depressed to see how many angry idiots in the comments seriously think that LD took the idea from some random RLM video. This kind of thing always makes me think of the story David Gerrold told on the TAS DVD audio commentary about the kid who erroneously believed he'd given him the idea for "More Tribbles, More Troubles" and thought he deserved a credit on the episode. Of course, if that happened today, a bunch of these YouTubers would probably be unquestioningly taking that kid's side.

Sometimes they say the dumbest things, like in Voyager's "Revulsion" the hologram says that life-support consumes 59.2 percent of the total energy output! Life-support consumes nothing! It should be like one-millionth of the total energy output. Boy, the less you listen to the technobabble the better off you'll be.
To be fair, that hologram was talking about his own ship, and also he was completely insane. I'm guessing his calculations shouldn't be taken as 100% reliable.

He might have also been referring to "Life Support" as everything that keeps humans alive that holograms don't need.

Things like "Artificial Gravity" and "Inertial Dampeners" and "Non-Physical Radiation Shielding".

I knew the gag w/ the crew at the end was still coming and it still made me laugh way too much

I think this episode had a lot of great jokes, the references weren't intrusive, the crew working together was very trekkian, the beluga vibes were very funny, and I'm glad they're resolving the Mariner/Jen gag that way

Majel voiced all the cliffhanger and two- or three-part intros until ENT when Scott Bakula, I believe, took over recording them for his series' multi-part stories.
