Yep. One episode for the premiere date and then turned into two for the official episode list.

Only 8 days remaining. Kid cartoon or not, this is going to be the first animated Trek with a compact and serious storyline. Just like Lower Decks, this has some potential for a huge "Mandalorian Effect" to the franchise.

Since it's not still exactly clear when Prodigy will air in Nordics, I decided to ask directly from Paramount+ Nordic Facebook about it. They replied, but couldn't answer.

No idea why they couldn't even deny, but I'm not even tiny bit wiser after this.

You've probably already seen this, but just for anyone else: with the change to an hour timeslot for the premiere, it looks like the showings on October 28 will be 6:00 pm ET and 8:00 pm ET.

Just don't want anyone to miss the first half-hour, if they're watching the later showing, like I will be! ;)

A lovable rogue/idealistic kid, a Princess, a big intimidating alien, and a mysterious psychic wizard join together to fight an evil Emperor with his intimidating jet black robot henchman.

It's the most Star Trek plot of all!

A group of diverse beings learn that they can achieve freedom and discover new worlds by combining their different natures and abilities for the common good. Yep, very much a Star Trek plot.

And really, if you have to combine two characters from your analogy into one and ignore several characters that don't have parallels in your analogy, as well as using inapplicable terms like "princess," "wizard" and "emperor" (plus Darth Vader wasn't a robot), maybe it's not the best analogy. Though I guess you could argue that Janeway is C-3PO and Jankom Pog is R2-D2...

IMHO, the biggest difference thematically between Star Wars and Star Trek is the question of destiny vs. free will. Star Wars is fundamentally a mythological world where only Great Ones matter and things are foreordained to happen. Star Trek is a series rooted in the Enlightenment, where intelligent individuals work together as a team to overcome obstacles.

Watching the Ready Room right now. The Hagemans let drop that we will see Klingons this season. They said something along the lines of the cast being a window to allow children (who are newcomers to Trek) to explore existing Trek lore. Basically, it's constructed explicitly to get newcomers into the franchise, which presumably means it will start feeling progressively more Trek as it goes along.

Also, in Gwyn's hologram of languages, some of the text was Klingon.

I disagree with your analysis. I think Murf might be the R2-D2 analogue, and maybe Zero the C-3PO (a combined 3PO/Obi-Wan), although it's too early to tell and we don't know if the two will have a strong relationship.

Pog might be closer to Han Solo than anyone else, but really these Star Wars comparisons are not very easy to make. Prodigy might be steering a little close to the Hero's Journey, which was Star Wars raison d'etre, and you're conflating the common archetypes in fiction between the two, in a sort of Kennedy/Lincoln way of sifting out patterns from generic info.

Yes, Tim, it wraps around her arm. Good call. The picture is actually inaccurate, as the sword and her arm "tattoo" are one and the same, and she has some sort of telepathic control over its form and function.
