The more episodes in, the more I loathe Shan. I will enjoy seeing her booted.

Oh, wait. Suddenly everyone's noticed how many people of color there are. Instant alliance, let's make history!

Okay, already saw this on Big Brother. Since they keep picking off people I like, I guess I'll watch until Xander and Erika are kicked out and then I don't care.

I don't have anyone I actively dislike. I'm not quite sure who I'm rooting for, I kinda like Naseer and Evvee but nobody is standing out as playing a spectacular game now.

I don't get why this decision is being played up as a big deal. "You can either be vulnerable at tribal or not, your call!" Why wouldn't she smash it?

Evvie's not bad. There are still a couple of them I had to wonder who they were because they've been so invisible that I literally never noticed them.

Shan is obnoxious, in how she just keeps demanding to hold on to other people's advantages and says she'll give them back after tribal council. I don't know why people keep being stupid enough to trust her. She has no likeability or charisma, so I just don't get it. She needs to go, like weeks ago.

Shan’s overplaying the game. Making reasonable strategic moves but ruining her social game along with it. But I don’t dislike her personally.

Survivor filmed before Big Brother did, so this alliance between Liana, Shan, Danny, and Deshawn happened first.

Yes, I am aware of that, as per the OP I wrote.

That does not alter the fact that Big Brother was shown first and Survivor second, so to me it feels like a case of "been there, done that, not interested in a rerun."

Seems like it will be a lot harder to hide on Survivor than Big Brother. In Big Brother it's easy to go after somebody without revealing your true alliances.

This is the worst season of Survivor I've ever seen. The players are practically brain-dead, and the twists just add chaos that detracts from actual strategy. Hopefully things improve.

There's far worse seasons than this. Any season with Colton for one.

True. Either him or the ones in that bat-shit crazy family whose name I'm blanking on.

By his third appearance I was actually starting to like Coach. He was unbearably full of himself the first time, but he was starting to grow up by the third time.

You mean Hantz? I thought he was fun to watch even though he’s an ass.

There’s also seasons like season 5/Thailand that were awful because every tribal was 100% predictable.

Well, that didn't produce a bitter reaction at all... The rest should be glad she's not going to be on the jury.

That was an intense tribal. I was surprised they gave 5 to Sydney instead of Evvie. I loved that fake idol move to draw out the advantage.

Yep, that was a smart move. Well-played, too, as it's something I don't remember him mentioning, that he'd made a fake idol (he might have, but there have been a couple of times when I've accidentally dozed off in front of the TV).

I generally like Evvie, but blabbing Xander's secret to that other guy was not smart. I think if things carry on like they are so far, Jeff is going to have to requisition some extra buses.

Wouldn't it have been smarter for the guy to not tell her right away that it was a fake idol? Let her carry on thinking she has a real idol

I bet he's wishing he'd done that. It would have been funny to see the expression on her face when Jeff told her it was not a hidden immunity idol and thrown it into the fire.

I’m not sure she would have had to show Jeff the idol though? I saw no mention of verification by Jeff

Since Xander outright said it was a fake and nobody tried to play it, Jeff wouldn't have had any reason to verify if it was or wasn't. Even if it was real and nobody tried to play it, he wouldn't have had a reason.

Jeff only has to verify an idol's authenticity if someone tries to play it.

But according to the rules of the advantage he’s not allowed to lie if he has it.

I guess he could have tried something cagey. Like, in a sarcastic tone say “No, I don’t have one.” Then rolled his eyes and handed over the fake one. He technically told the truth.

As I recall, she asked, "Do you have an idol," and he said, "You can have this fake one" and stated that he did not have a real one (which he technically didn't at that moment, it being in Tiffany's temporary possession).

So yeah, he didn't break any rules.
