Spoilers There will never be Ferengi in DISCO

My only big issue with the Ferengi redesign is the apparent lack of sharp snaggleteeth.
But sharp teeth are not a natural feature of Ferengi physiology, it's just a cosmetic choice. They file their teeth down with a tooth sharpener. Maybe by the 31st century it's not in-style anymore, or it is and this Ferengi just doesn't conform.

All I said was “I’d rather they cancel the show” and gave statements of opinion.

I never said “IT SHOULD BE CANCELED!!!”

There’s a difference, and you read incorrectly into my statement of personal preference and put words in my mouth. And then you started calling me childish and telling me to grow up.
He didn't misread anything or put words in your mouth. Both those statements mean the same thing.

It is a peculiar thing for some in fandom to not just quit watching something they don't like, but to actively hope it will be taken away from others who are still enjoying it. If you'd "rather they cancel the show", there's a very simple solution for you to achieve that outcome all by yourself today by never watching another episode. It's just like it's been canceled.

The difference in appearance between DISCO and TNG Ferengi is not really any more then between white and black humans.
It be well behind that as I was always annoyed that only humans or "very human" aliens had multiple skin tones.
But introducing that by using 1 background alien only leaves it open to the kind of guesswork and recrimination we see especially given Discos history. If he was introduced as one of a group of Ferengi some looking like him and some "traditional" then I would think it brilliant

That's a bit unfair. I have never asked for Disco to be cancelled but it and anything that carries the name Trek affects the whole franchise.
For instance if someone only ever watched season 1 of DS9 and didn't like it then we get them telling everyone forever that "Star Trek" sucks and then they miss out on seasons upon seasons of good Trek.
A couple of bad seasons is all it takes to bury Trek again (luckily Disco is popular even if I don't like it)

Indeed. TimeIsAPredator said he hopes DSC runs for 100 seasons and I can quote him on that. ;)

I think Disco should end before 10 seasons. So that mathematically makes TIAP 10 times the DSC Fan I am.

Truth be told, the more I see the image of the Disco Ferengi pop up, the less I like them.

They look like they belong on Thundercats.

We know the Ferengi sharpen their teeth, but humans who file their teeth don't end up with teeth that look like Ferengi:

Ferengi teeth look sharp, but they are most notable for being crooked and seemingly random, with no clear division between incisors, canines, and molars.

I don't mind the dark side either I just think things like S31 or the Borg lose all their fear factor and edge when explored too closely. Both have already gone too far I think so a whole show about one is a big mistake I think

Probably did not phrase it as well as I could have but I actually think you have a fair point about them losing their edge.

I guess I would say I'm intruiged by a Mission Impossible/Spooks type approach.

Agree that the Borg are a bit played out in their current guise (although the XBs worked well to redirect it a bit) but I also really want to see what they do with them in Pic S2

Also want to give props for the Community reference. Well played sir

The optimal time for every show is 6 seasons and a movie
I think it's four seasons ... maybe five but most premises are played out after four seasons and the writers begin to reuse ideas. Characters also tend to get flanderized after a few years.

Even long running shows that were popular for 10+ seasons usually have their best seasons relatively early in their run before they become a pair of comfortable pajama pants that have seen better days but people still like to wear.

If you ask people which seasons of long running shows are their favorites in I bet in 9 out of 10 cases the answer will be season 4 or earlier with most people picking either season 2 or 3.

Michelle Paradise the showrunner has already indirectly confirmed that Season 5 is happening by tweeting about the Discovery writing room getting back together back in August. But Paramount/CBS announce these things when the new seasons starts.

I didn't mean to say that Discovery is ending after season 4 just that I think 4 seasons is generally my preferred length for a series.

Why oh why do they have to screw with things just to screw with them?
The ferengi makeup was good. This one just looks bad.
Not the color, just that the heads are all scraggly instead of round. And they don't form 1 big ear, there pushed back to 2 distinct ears.. Ugly.

Would be neat to get some insights here and there on how cultures have evolved - and how the Federation has as well.
