Yeah but it makes the Borg too one note that they must steal other people's children.

I always assumed the baby was grown on that cube, i.e. it wasn't assimilated.

The maximum efficiency you mentioned...would seem to suggest that the Borg do both of those things. They grow "native" drones when possible, and assimilate others when not.

In my headcanon, Hugh is one such native Borg. You'll notice that when he's severed from the collective (in "I Borg"), he doesn't have an original personality to go back to? Well there's your answer. ;)

Well it airs at 9PM Eastern, so it's passed the watershed hour. Discovery Season 1 aired at 8.

So even if they do get complaints, it probably won't lead to a fine, and they had a proper disclaimer at the start

true, that was a surprisingly good episode
I also loved that we, the audience, knew how bad the situation was before the characters did. This was as close as Trek ever got, IMO, to an 80s slasher film. We knew way more than the characters did and were screaming at the screen for them not to do something because we knew where it would lead.

I loved the callbacks and the little portable holobooths they used. First time in weeks that I have genuinely laughed at LD. It was a fantastic little episode. So cool to have Alice Krieg back as well, and the official BOBW music.

Honestly, if every episode was just these kinds of mini holobooth evaluations, I’d be happy.

Damn, this is an uneven series though.

I find it exhausting. I'd just like to be able to follow Trek on social media without it being flooded with hate from "true fans".

One small bit of good news is that hardcore 'true' fans are split on Lower Decks. When it came out, the usual merchants of controversy were like, "It is another betrayal of our childhoods!" only to get serious pushback. Mostly because even if the DISCO and Picard haters aren't people I agree with, most of them took LD as harmless fun.
