Best TREK tear jerker moment

What moment, single scene, do you think is TREK's best Tear Jerker moment of all time...I have a few nominations..

1. Kirk letting Edith die
2. Lal's death scene
3. Old Jake revealing he is killing himself to give his younger self and Sisko a 'second chance'

4. Spock's death scene from Khan
5. Odo grabs Kira and kisses her (happy tear jerker moment of course)
6. Kirk's death scene. YES IT WORKS FOR ME!
7. Picard's break down in SAREK.
8. Odo saying goodbye to Kira in WHAT YOU LEAVE BEHIND
9. Sisko saying goodbye to kassidy in WHAT YOU LEAVE BEHIND
10. The end of INNER LIGHT when they reveal the truth to Picard
11. HONORABLE MENTIONs

Jadzia's final scene with Worf

Those are some of mine..what are some of yours?

Spock's death scene in Khan. Excellent performance from both Shatner and Nimoy. I would extend this to Kirk's eulogy of Spock in the next scene.

The only one that gets to me EVERY TIME is TNG's The Offspring, when Data is talking to Lal before she dies.

You missed all the tear-jerker moments in "The Visitor"

"I am now, Jake... I am now."

Spock's death scene in Khan. Excellent performance from both Shatner and Nimoy. I would extend this to Kirk's eulogy of Spock in the next scene.

That's my favourite also!

And mine too, all the way through Scotty playing amazing grace on the bagpipes.

Kirk's death got me in the theater because I was unprepared. Now, when I rewatch Generations, it doesn't get me because I just feel cheated.

TOS:
Wrath of Khan: Death of Spock
Search for Spock: "I have been and always shall be your friend..." I just loved it when Spock said that.

TNG:
The Offspring: Data with Lal as she is dying.
Inner Light: Picard playing the flute at the end.

ENT:
Similitude: Death of Sim
Observer Effect: When Archer gently places his hand on Trip's chest as his friend dies
Terra Prime: Trip telling T'Pol "if a human and a Vulcan wanted to have a child..."

If I had to choose, I'd say Terra Prime. ... a beautiful tribute to the true "next generation."

I wish I could add the "death" of Data, but it all happened too fast (yeah, yeah, it might have been "realistic," but we needed drama too) and there was just no emotional impact to draw from (not like when Kirk and Spock are separated as Spock dies).

What about the scene in TWOK in sickbay where the young boy asks if the word is given?
And Spock's death scene!

JDW

Three that I'm genuinely surprised not have seen mentioned yet:

  • The end of "Lower Decks". That always gets to me.
  • The pull-out shot of Jake and Kira looking to the Wormhole that ended DS9. Jake and Ben's relationship was so real, the sense of loss is really palpable.
  • Benny's nervous breakdown at the end of "Far Beyond the Stars". Sure, it can be worth a giggle at times (especially when juxtaposed with our favorite Romulan Senator). Real breakdowns, however, are not pretty. I'm glad Avery Brooks chose to play the scene the way he did. It was real. (Pun not intended; I swear. I didn't even realize until I had typed it out.)

I can't think of the best, but the Lal episode definitely ranks up there. What nails it for me is how Admiral Jerk, the episode's 'bad guy' per se, is himself close to tears after recovering from immense desperation after trying to help save Lal. That's a damn good story when the antagonist gives it his all to help out and it's still not enough, and he himself feels the impact of the loss.

Yeah, I think that was really the saving grace for an episode that was really a bit predictable. Lal really was a sweet kid and Data's innocent belief that he could be a good father was good, but you just knew it wasn't going to end well. But the Admiral being devastated by her death helped humanize him when it could have been kind of a run of the mill metaphor for robots being more "human" than humans.

Inner Light managed to make you feel the loss of the planet, but also it hammered home the fact that while Picard had built himself a magnficent career it came at the expense of having the joys and sorrows of family life. It also reinforced my belief that for all his expressed "discomfort" with children Picard would have been just as good a father as he was a parent.

I thought the final scene of Voyager's Real Life when the Doctor's holographic daughter passes away was pretty moving. Great acting from the all of the actors involved.

Movies: The death of Spock in The Wrath of Khan. Beautifully done by Shatner and Nimoy. Makes me cry every time I see it

TOS: The end of City on the Edge of Forever always gets to me. The look on Kirk's face is so real. Also, the final lines of the episode:
McCoy: Do you know what you've done Jim?
Spock: He knows Doctor, he knows.

DS9: The Visitor is another one that brings me to tears. The entire episode is fantastic.

VOY: The ending of Real Life is very powerful. Excellent performances all around.

TOS:
Observer Effect: When Archer gently places his hand on Trip's chest as his friend dies
Terra Prime: Trip telling T'Pol "if a human and a Vulcan wanted to have a child..."

Agreed on both. My vote lies with these two picks, JiNX.

The Visitor and the Inner Light respectively almost always get to me, depending on the mood I'm in at the time. That's probably why they're two of my absolute favorites of any series. I would give honorable mention to Wrath Of Kahn. I remember when my grandmother took me to see it when I was a kid, she was definitely misty eyed when Spock died; And I don't think she ever watched the original show. I guess it was just a very well done scene about a man losing his life long friend. I'm going to stop typing now, I think I have something in my eye.

One of my favorite sad, or at least bittersweet, moments was when Janeway was saying goodbye to blind Tuvok in Year of Hell. The little hug at the end. Janeway talking about Voyager being more then a ship, but their home, and refusing to abandon her in Voyager's moment of need. The pull back of Janeway sitting alone in her command chair, aboard an empty ship, sitting amongst the wreckage of the bridge...

It was a good scene.:)

Spock's death scene in Khan. Excellent performance from both Shatner and Nimoy. I would extend this to Kirk's eulogy of Spock in the next scene.

Agreed. One of THE best death scenes.

I used that in my short story (mini novel) the eulogy part.

Kirk's was stupid... i would have thought that better suited than just Oh my Goodness... as his last word.

The other one i liked was Tasha Yar's scene, not so much the death itself by the icky tar monster thing but her own eulogy and the holodeck burial.

The use of the holodeck was kinda cool.

What about the scene in TWOK in sickbay where the young boy asks if the word is given?

I forgot about that one. That's another good one. Doohan and the boy's performances are great in that one.

Which was an ad lib by Shatner if I remember right. I think "It was fun" was much better.
