Interesting article about the relationship between Star Trek and Nasa. I did note that it repeats the incorrect assertion that NBC ordering a second pilot episode was "unprecedented" when it has long been established that it certainly wasn't unprecedented.

I came across the K-7 inspiration in an ad for Douglas last year (1965) in AvWeekly!

I was going to say there was a captain Kirk but see he got promoted.hmm wonder how fast his captain to admiral path took compared to the fictional Kirk

I came across the K-7 inspiration in an ad for Douglas last year (1965) in AvWeekly!

The only one of those that had legs was Thor---that became Delta II....and it stifled everything else.
