Okay, so who's going to produce the fan episode of the alternate reality Lesley Crusher?
I hope the the alternate reality is non-PC and humorous!

I’d like to believe the writers could have resisted the urge to give Leslie a crush on Okana in his episode, but I have my doubts.

Honestly we'd be lucky if you'd have to wait for Okona for Leslie to be enamoured with an adult guy. We'd already be incredibly lucky if they don't give her a "precocious crush" on Riker or Data. It would of course be one-sided, but still...ewww

A lot of the draft story ideas the TNG creators had about Leslie that we know about have romance because girl.

I wouldn't be surprised if Wesley got some of those.

"Lesley shows up on a planet where she falls for a sport boy only to be SENTENCED TO DEATH for being clumsy!"

"Lesley falls for a handsome Prince...who is actually a monster!"

Yeah that's why I said she'd most likely have an infatuation with one of the older characters, and it would be played entirely for laughs.
The 80s were often quite bad with stuff like that.

Yes, which is why I made the comment. Since its inception it has always been a commentary or social issues, and has made subtle and sometimes not so subtle points at time. However now, as an old man that grew up with Star Trek, the preaching from the TV is getting ever more woke, and ever more in your face by the day. It would truly be nice to see a episode with character development, humor, a happy ending and one not trying to make a statement or inject a political or social construct on the audience. I remember when TV was "entertainment", not a disguised way to push something on the public.

The Nostalgia Filter is a thing. Star Trek was openly ridiculously happily woke and almost every episode had a message.

Modern Trek is LESS message heavy because "Pew pew pew."

Which makes it a doubly weird complaint.

Many shows in the 60's were "woke". There were always episodes about accepting those who were different and other woke ideas. Westerns played with it quit a bit using Native American, Chinese immigrants, Romani and others to address racism and tolerance in the 1960's through the lens of the 1880's.

I actual prefer the “hunted man” approach of B7 to Star Treks “shiny happy utopia in the future which is oddly barren of homer sexual people”.

My point is, you cannot get away from it, it seems to have invaded everything. There used to be an old saying, "If I want your opinion, I'll ask for it". Now days, it seems, some believe, "It's my opinion and it's my right to shove it in your face." In short, basic etiquette and courtesy seem to be greatly lacking in today's society. Now that said, I think it's best to drop this discussion as people come here to enjoy themselves and I don't want to be a hypocrite by foisting my opinions on others.

Happily you're not under any obligation to watch any TV shows that you feel are foisting messages upon you that you're not interested in having foisted upon you. :)

OTOH, presumably whoever's making these shows feel that foisting messages is a successful endeavor, or they'd stop doing so (i.e. money talks).

You quite often hear people complaining about modern Trek being "too woke" or some variation to the effect.
And I suspect with at least some people who complain that newer Trek is "pushing messages too much" or is "too woke" it's not so much that the level of "preachiness" has increased, but the topics/ideas/opinions that are being handled now might just be beyond their comfort zones.

As soon as you whine about “Woke” or “ Shoved in my face”, you self-identify as a conservative stuck in an all-white past. Perhaps Lucy show reruns are more your style.

Just because someone is a Conservative (proud of it by the way), does not mean they should be stereotyped as stuck in an all-white past. To me that shows a soft bigotry based on nothing as you do not know me.

Perhaps it would help further the discussion if you specified what "preaching from the TV" you find bothersome then, rather than making vague allusions to it?

I know what you wrote and it raises two yellow alert flags. This is a thread about the original definition of the character who ended up as “Wesley.” You threw in the contemporary political bias, not me.
PS: I don’t need to “know you” to know you.

I could, but it's way off topic and would not contribute anything POSITIVE to the forum. I'm a newbie here, and I didn't mean to provoke anyone's sensitivities.
