Pegg's hair color

Does it really matter? I'm not trying to be snarky but why should the new actors have to look like the originals? I don't think the character of Scotty was defined by his hair even though Doohan had a few different styles through the series from almost Clooney to big swooping combover.

Dying his hair doesn't mean there won't be a wig involved. he may have a hairpeice on top of the dark hair just to they don't have to worry about it sticking out and it can be a more natural look. Not that it really matters, but Pegg looks goofy enough as it is, anything to 'clean up' his look a bit would be appreciated, if not necessary.

Doohan never had black hair; he had dark brown hair.
Well, to be fair, it sure did look black on my TV. And that's really what counts, isn't it.

My hair is also technically "very dark brown" (granted, with a few white ones in there anymore... arggghh...) but most people think it's black... okay, "salt and pepper... whatever...

You get my point, I hope! :thumbsup:

They don't, of course.
That's not the single MOST important element, but it IS important.

The less the new actor resembles the mental image that already exists in the viewer's mind, the less likely the viewer will be to accept that this is the same person...

Instead of seeing "Scotty" they'll see "that Sean of the Dead guy doing his version of Scotty."

That's BAD from the standpoint of the film. But it's not AS bad as it would be, for instance, if they had someone who perfectly resembled the original character but was a rotten actor.

The ideal is to have someone who looks the part, AND who can act the part, AND who can entertain the audience (regardless of the first two elements).

Hardly. Hopefully he'll be wearing in wig in Trek. Scotty had much more hair than Pegg has.

If those bastards don't give Pegg the EXACT SAME HAIR STYLE as Doohan I'm boycotting this piece of crap!!!
:censored::censored::scream::censored:

By God, same here! Pegg better have a missing finger as well. :brickwall:
Well, that's easy to fix.

"Say, Simon, can you come here for a moment... no, nothing to worry about... T H W A P ! ! !"
