Wait, did they actually say why Tom was onboard at any point?

They were given a 2 season order at the start.

I think we shall agree this shall be an iconic image of Star Trek going forward.

Did you guys catch the little DS9 nod when Boimer was crawling through the tubes?

I was thinking that didn’t sound much like RDM either

He was doing a "handshake tour". So, publicity as a famous celebrity, I guess.

    Yep! Telling "VOY" stories

The show is at its best, IMO, when it uses absurdist humor to poke fun at the franchise and fandom. It doesn't always hit the mark but I love that it's saying "we all love this contradictory, often ridiculous thing dearly but let's have some fun with it"

I think was too hard on this episode this morning. I watched it again after work and find myself enjoying it a lot more. Perhaps I woke up in an unforgiving mood. I need to see it again.

and it’s no longer the ridiculous “breaking the warp 10 barrier”, but a generic but more acceptable “breaking the transwarp barrier”!

So we should be grateful that the Exceslior's transwarp drive never worked.

Gave it an 8. Enjoyed it more than last week episode, but it still had the problem of the conflict (spefifcally between Tendi & Mariner) feeling forced tho the eventual resolution was nice, and gags with Tom Paris and VOY in general gave me quite the laugh as VOY fan. Overall pretty good episode :bolian:.

We know how dangerous space bees are. They killed the previous Planet Express crew.

    another 8.

the Shax return is kinda hinkey. But I loved the pairing of Mariner and Tendi with Tendi going full Orion pirate on the blacksmith.

I’m glad they didn’t over do the Tom Paris stuff. Although him yelling “It’s a Kazon” before beating up Boimler was great.

Mariner serving on DS9 some time during S4-7 is pretty cool.

Yes, indeed. Letting the main characters carry it is great. Just the right amount.

or did it? If in the real world we can have the term “SuperDrive” refer to two different things in less than 30 years, we can certainly have two meanings for “transwarp” in Star Trek two centuries apart.

About Paris, I concur the voice sounded different. At this point it’s definitely a style choice: all the legacy characters sounded different so far!

My favourite episode of the season so far. Seemed to have more plot and the call backs were not as in your face as just a room full of items. I also laughed more this week which is the most important part.
Salamander jokes are always good with me, Tendis reveal of the smuggler/pirate planet was funny and digging deeper into her and Mariners characters and back story was good.
Also what I love about the TOS and VOY jokes was I am so used to those phrases I didn't even realize there was something odd about characters saying them till it was pointed out on screen
Best of all was Dr. Cat when she got that box, the animation of that seen was fantastic and cracked me up.
    And don't forget folks

There have been at least 3 uses of that term in ST. The breaking of the Warp 10 barrier, the Excelsior's testbed system and the Borg conduits. In this case it just means (on or to the other side of : across : beyond)

Star Trek has this thing where it realizes it doesn't really want to be beholden to travel times but doesn't realize getting rid of them will only make things worse by creating more questions.
