Spoilers Spider-man 3(take 2) Anticipation thread

I presume it's from the hole Hulk left in the roof pre-Snap.
Can't be since we saw the outside of the Sanctum Sanctorum and its roof was intact. Presumably someone fixed it in the intervening years (we don't know if Wong was dusted or not...).

2.
Assuming the rumors of Tobey and Andrew possibly returning are true (and at this point, I'm believing them), it is curious that Alfred Molina's Doc Ock recognized Tom Holland's Peter. Perhaps it's just some clever trailer editing or maybe it's something more, um, sinister.

I wonder if he’s talking to the Tobey Spider-Man and the trailer is edited to make us think he’s speaking to the Tom version

Another thought: The Iron Spider-Man suit returns! I'm guessing the suit he designed for himself in Far From Home gets destroyed and he has to go back to the Iron Spidey suit.

Brilliant!

Yup, that's what I was thinking when I said clever editing.

This is probably a big coincidence, but I saw someone post about this on Twitter and I just checked on Disney+ to make sure it wasn't photoshopped:

Remember the little heart drawn on Wanda's calendar in the first episode of WandaVision?

August 23.

This story sounds awfully familar. No one is talking about Tony Stark which is good. Might be an actual Spider-Man movie

You know, with all of us (rightfully!) freaking out about this trailer, I only just noticed that the trailer says the film comes out on December 17! I'm not surprised by the release change but I think this is the first time that's been mentioned.

You know, I never in a million years would have guessed that they would choose to adapt One Moment in Time for something like this. "Hey guys, let's adapt one of the worst Spider-man stories ever told for our third film!"

Still, my complete disdain for both the original story and the entire period which generated it aside, this looks ok. It's obviously being used to set up Strange as the big tentpole for this phase of the MCU. I'd personally been hoping for a more grounded look at Peter losing his secret ID, but that ship has sailed, run aground, sank and been lost with all hands I suppose.

It's hard to imagine, based purely on the trailer, what role a villain could have in the film. I'm picturing this turning into a series of vignettes connected by a central thread. But we'll see.

I also like the subtle confirmation that Tobey is back, because who else would Molina's Ock recognize as Peter? I suppose that means the Garfield rumors are true as well. One hopes this doesn't get too bloated with characters, or that all the guest stars don't get shafted with tiny appearances.

And, on a final note, can Marvel working with Sony finally deliver a Green Goblin worthy of the name? Sony has failed on their own at least twice (depending on whether we are counting Harry in SM3, whom they called the New Goblin). Dafoe could be amazing as long as they don't put him back in that terrible Power Rangers outfit. But nostalgia, so they probably will.

Great trailer - i expected them to release the trailer soon due to the leak and the attention it garnered ( still think the leak was part of the strategy for the trailer release schedule to drum up even more interest) but i read about it last night, go to sleep, wake up and boom - there it is. Good way to start the day :)

Here you go - we are down the rabbit hole and into the Multiverse completely. I found it a bit odd that Strange was so cavalier and careless about using such a far reaching and complicated spell to basically reset part of Peter's past but then again he started out an arrogant Doctor ( though brilliant) and then learned humility as he became a Sorcerer. It was a bit out of place that he, now Sorcerer Supreme, would revert to being careless now that he knows how much damage such spells can do.

Sanctum Santorum being now something out of a Frozen scene surely has a funny backstory, can't wait to see it.

Visuals are straight out of Dr. Strange as locations invert into themselves - trippy CGI but still cool and a Green Goblin teaser ( did they actually get Willem Dafoe to reprise the role? Can't remember) up to the reveal of Doc Ock and i agree that it's odd he recognizes MCU Peter as Spiderman, though could be that it's not the first time they meet in the movie or Doc Ock just saw the news as Peter's identity is now worldwide knowledge.

Interesting they left out Maguire and Garfield, maybe they will get their big reveal in the second trailer closer to release or Marvel/Sony can control themselves and actually only reveal them in the movie for the few ones who are not following entertainment news.

I too hated One More Day, especially because they undid Peter's and MJ's marriage ( something i never forgave Joe Quesada, then Editor in Chief at Marvel Comics) and after that i stopped reading Spiderman altogether. However this being the MCU they will only take the barebones construct of it and craft something of their own around it - we'll actually see what the resolution of that will be and if it'll be the actual conclusion of the MCU Spiderman story arc ( are there reports of Holland signing a deal to continue playing the role?).

December can't come soon enough - i want to see Shang Chi and Eternals but this is the one i'm actually really excited about.

I think everyone would riot if we didn't get a trailer before the film came out.
I don't know, it would be quite the move for Marvel to one day just drop a movie with no trailer, no warning, or even just drop a trailer *on release day*. It would terrify the marketing people of course...and probably the kind of thing you can only get away with once. But still, it'd be fun to see it of for nothing else than seeing the collective fan freak-out.
2. I really hope there's a funny story about the snow-covered Sanctum Sanctorum.
Maybe they recovered the Casket of Ancient Winters from the ruins of Asgard, but now they have it, they can't figure out how to turn it off...

Honestly though, I think it's funnier if it's not addressed. Showing up at the Sanctum Sanctorum is like visiting the BPRD, or MIB headquarters. It seems like random craziness, but really it's just a Saturday...don't worry about it! ;)

I'm reading more rumors that
This will be a Multiverse Sinister Six; So that's Goblin, Doc Ock, Sandman, Electro, Lizard, Rhino. Vulture and Scorpion won't be part of it and they are saving those MCU characters for other movies.
So if any of that is true then it seems like there will be more Spiderman movies after this.

Didn't anybody else think it was really weird in the trailer when:

Strange just agreed to mess with the multiverse and then ignored Peter's pleas to stop the spell?
I did feel the whole thing was irresponsible on Strange's part. I might except that of the character if this was shorty after his first movie but I assumed he had matured since then.

Either a coincidence or planned out. Hard to tell!

because who else would Molina's Ock recognize as Peter?
Anyone wearing a Spiderman suit.

Did Peter try to stop the spell? He stepped into the spell circle when he learned that everybody would forget, including MJ, which went too far for Peter. However stepping into the spell area while Strange was casting the spell either disrupted it or disrupted Strange's concentration and the whole thing blows up and has apparently unintended consequences or side effects, i.e. possibly creating bridges to other Spidey universes and pulling the Spidermen and their villains into the MCU universe (speculation of course).

This is what i said earlier that it seemed a bit out of character and reckless of Strange. He is arrogant, that's for sure, but that arrogance results out of him being a brilliant surgeon and later on rising quickly through the ranks and becoming Sorcerer Supreme. This is why i was a bit surprised at Strange's actions messing with time and reality so carelessly, even if it was for a "colleague" and fellow superhero.

I can only imagine is that his own curiosity and ego played a part in this, i.e. he was more concerned if he could actually do it, not if it should have been done in the first place but he didn't factor in Peter, who involuntarily sabotages the spell until it backfires.
