Things that frustrate us all

I think I’m newly allergic to something I use in the shower.

Last night I woke up in the middle of the night with a puffed up left eye. Then right after my shower tonight it immediately happened again.

And I remember that’s exactly what happened last time I fell asleep on a pillow covered in cat hair.

Can you develop a salicylic acid allergy after using it harmlessly for 25 years?

I suppose it is possible. I know my sensitivities have come and gone over the years.

Or it is something else.

I think it's probably more likely to be something that simply got in your eye and caused irritation: a tiny piece of hair, skin, soap or dust.

I suppose it's possible but if it were an allergic reaction to something you use in the shower(unless it's something you only use on your eye) then wouldn't you expect some sort of reaction to show else where the product was used?

I would say consult your Doctor but I know in some countries that costs money people might not have. But failing that you can always switch to a different product if possible to see what reaction if any you have.

.

In this case it’s the only place I’ve ever had allergic reactions stronger than mild congestion. So might be my eyes are the only thing vulnerable to allergy.

My family and I used to go to a popular ( I won't use the names here, just to be nice) Hair place in our town. It was wonderful we went since it opened like 12 years ago. A very nice lady was in charge and she was so amazing. She listened to people and we all just loved her. Well, Covid happened. And she left the place for another one near her home. And pretty much all but one of the people that worked there don't. All new people. And the place does a bad job. They are guys which does not mean that is a bad thing.I have had good cuts from guys before. But in this case they do seem to not listen to what a person wants and they do super short. A older lady we know went there again for years, and she got a mohawk! A 80 year old lady with a mohawk! yeah, it really upset her. I went there and though the cut was ok. The guy that did my bangs cut them so oddly I had to wait months to get them right, and still didn't. Finally I went into to another popular hair place and this time the lady listened to be and fixed my bangs. She said they looked liked they were cut in a triangle pattern! It is so hard these days here anyway to find someone good to get a hair cut. This lady I went to was working alone and since Covid many hair places are having a very hard time finding people. At least two places here in town have only one person working there and have limited hours because of it. It is sad. Anyway, I am frustrated by how hard it was to find a place, I looked around a lot. And that the place we used to really like is not good anymore. I know these things happen but it is still very sad!

I hear ya' I would/will sit for an hour for my favorite barber that knows what the...

Remember the old adage- always get your hair cut by the barber with the worst haircut based on the premise that they cut each others' hair.

Item 1: Health insurance was cancelled for 2nd time with no notification. First time was last October when we were notified on Oct 1st that our insurance was ending that day. Took 2 months to clear that up and then had to postpone elective surgery due to COVID cases. This time, found out when I went to Urgent Care for ingrown toe nail. Written notification dated the 8th informed us that coverage ended on the 1st. Was waiting for COBRA information from my wife's union where we get insurance through, but now learn since she is now full time, coverage is directly through employer. While coverage will be retroactively be applied back to the first, still waiting for coverage to be activiated.

Item 2: Internet provider Cox had a planned outage for several hours on Monday although actual outage appeared to be for only a couple of minutes. Today it was out for about an hour.

That's one good thing about shaving my head, I don't have to deal with barbers. Not that I've ever had a bad experience with them; the man who used to cut my hair as a child, was a very good barber, and I miss him.

The downside is, sometimes I cut myself. And head wounds definitely bleed a lot. As the flight attendant on my recent flight to Chicago found out.

Having to sit through a 3 hour meeting where they don't tell you a single thing you didn't already know, and when people ask questions that are actually useful and things I really want to know, they say, "Oh, we're out of time."

According to my favorite author, Dave Barry...in a very real sense, funerals are more productive than meetings, because funerals have a specific purpose (to say nice things about a dead person) and reach a definite conclusion (this person is put in the ground). Whereas meetings drone on until the legs of the highest ranking person present fall asleep.

Sounds like poor time mangement to me, when planning a meeting shouldn't one factor in things a period of time for questions? But then again I suppose the five minute toilet break actually bercomes a half hour one. Then of course there is the "five minute" coffee break. Not to mention that one person who is late which delays the start of the meeting.

I'm not overally fond of meetings (not that I have to attend many) and would rather we get on with it, I have other often more productive things I could be doing.

I just read some one say Man of Steel is the best Superman movie. Being reminded that a large portion of a generation will think of that as Superman always breaks my heart.

Last week the building in which I work had power issues. This week the heating's the issue (the temperature in the building was apparently in the high 80s [Celsius] Tuesday morning). I appreciate saving $ on gas and lunch, but working from home is getting old fast (I guess I had my fill when we did it for 6 months last year).

After twice waiting in the waiting room for about 2 hours, they finally got the right part for my car (third time's the charm): thus me being over $300 poorer.

No idea about salicylic acid, but I apparently recently developed an allergic reaction to inexpensive jewelry after wearing it for years without issue.

It could easily also be one of the dyes in Nutrogena products or the other inactive ingredients. But if it's salicyclic acid, half my diet has salicyclic acid.

I'm not the biggest Superman fan, but the original Superman movies involved turning back time by reversing the Earth's spin direction. They aren't exactly holy.

I haven't seen the others but I discern they involve imprisoning people in a square. I don't know what Superman movie is the best, cause I've only seen the first Christopher Reeves Superman. But defending that movie is a bad hill to die on. It was good for what it was. But it was also stupid. And from what I hear the others increase the stupidity.

Being gifted nice electronic thing with manual written in Chinglish..... Damn thing won't work the way it's supposed to, consult manual. Oh that's not good it's not even proper English.

Well of course it isn't, the only bit that makes sense when read is the premium number help line they expect you to call when you don't understand the manual.

Got a new system in at work and when you read one of the sections whilst you can uderstand are trying to tell there is a word missing which would make the sentance make grammitcal sense. And it's not from some start up company it's from one of the larger companies on the planet you might even have ordered from them.

Well "Man of Steel" is a decent enough film for the first two thirds or so, then for me it goes downhill.

80C are you sure your office hasn't been converted to a saunna? Because that's towards the hot side for a saunna.

It was onlt the first Superman movie they turned back time (well ok the 2nd one as well if it's the superior donner cut) but that was supposed to be the ending of second movie not the first as they were shooting them both at the same time, but there was some budget/time issues which caused changes. Given the choice I would rather watch Superman: The Movie than Man Of Steel but perhaps thats because that was the one I grew up with. The second Superman movie is decent enough, the thrid passible as a popcorn flick as for the fourth, I think I've seen it a handful of times and I have no desire to ever watch it again.
