I simply don't go shirtless at home. Never really did.
And YOU want to be my latex salesman.

There must be some situations on a starship that requires a counsellor, for example in 'The Bonding' in TNG.The role of ships counsellor was something we didn't need
I’ll have to respectfully disagree with that, if I had access to therapist that was free/ came with the job I’d be in there all the time. I would say that it didn’t really make sense as a bridge officer. The role of ships counsellor was something we didn't need
Would have worked better as a reoccurring character, rather than a main one. There must be some situations on a starship that requires a counsellor, for example in 'The Bonding' in TNG.
If, on the other hand, it’s a military man o’ war that ignores Code 710 and warning buoys so as to enforce the manifest destiny of a benevolent federation, well….
Would have worked better as a reoccurring character, rather than a main one.
agreed. Someone that is occasionally there but not as a member of the senior staff.
Those scenes were the worst.Counsellor or not it's nice to have someone on the bridge who can tell to the captain if he's been lied to or some other similar reason.
To be fair she was often correct in that the alien captain WAS hiding something![]()
You haven't met my husband.Perhaps he didn't want crumbs in his beard, so it was easier to shave.
You're not likely to get crumbs on your chest hair.
Maybe. But I definitely think it's a necessary job on a ship with over 1,000 people, some of whom are families. (And not just because of my name and icon!Would have worked better as a reoccurring character, rather than a main one.
Ah, manifest destiny. Amazing how something that is pure evil could be made to sound so heroic and adventurous. Maybe our ancestors saw ourselves as something like the Federation, spreading the light of civilization to the far shores... no matter how much land we had to steal, people we had to kill, or cultures we had to obliterate in the process.
My guess has always been that she was there because 1) she and Riker were initially based on Decker & Ilia because IIRC what became TMP was originally the pitch for TNG and Gene(?) wanted a "star-crossed" couple and 2) to have another woman on the bridge (it was the 80s).I agree that a counselor is an appropriate role but not necessarily as a bridge officer.
That's a reasonable guess to my mind.My guess has always been that she was there because 1) she and Riker were initially based on Decker & Ilia because IIRC what became TMP was originally the pitch for TNG and Gene(?) wanted a "star-crossed" couple and 2) to have another woman on the bridge (it was the 80s).
Ah, likle the British empire
The apple didn't fall far from the tree, did it?
Maybe that's why the Federation has the non-interference rules that it does... it acknowledges the mistakes of its forbears and is determined not to repeat them.
