I am more concerned with the huge push in to 6 inch right now by other companies that Playmates will follow that trend.

I think a hybrid like what they did for Trek ‘09 might be the way to go. A 3.75 inch line and a 6 inch line.

I’m also expecting a “build a figure.” Like what they do with Marvel Legends.

Why are you all saying they are 3,75 inches? When I measure my Voyager figures, they are 12 centimeters which makes it 4,7 inches. They are a bit smaller than the 5" Doctor Who figures.

Star Wars are yet even smaller if you hold them next to each other. I have an Indiana Jones that is the same size as Star Wars figures. I always thought those are the 3,75 inches. They also brought out a new 3,75" Doctor Who line a while ago but I did not buy it as the faces were really not looking good in that small scale.

i’m saying 3.75 based off what they released for the first JJ Trek movie. I would much rather they produce figures in the same scale/style that they did when they had the full license before. I just think that’s unrealistic.

We're not saying the main line was 3.75 but there were early figures from TNG that were. For ST 09 release there was a smaller line, around 3.5 to 3.75.

I'm hoping for a new 3.75 line now but I am skeptical of it happening.

Star Wars is 3.75 and 6 inch now. Also, I really liked the smaller DW line but I am a big 3.75 scale fan.

Figures that broadly fall broadly into the 1:18 scale category definitely vary in size.

On the small size are those Doctor Who figures. Slightly taller are those Trek 2009 figures. Then we have Star Wars, the "standard." (As well as the short-lived, but awesome Indiana Jones line), which are 3.75 inches. Also clocking in at a fairly consistent 3.75" in height are Super7's "Reaction" figures.

Then we start to creep up in height. Those Marvel Universe figures / "new" GI Joe figures are basically 4".

And there are a lot of other new, niche action figure companies like Boss Fight, Marauder, Chicken Fried Toys, Joy Toy, etc. Almost all of those wind up being on the tall, 4" end of the spectrum.

Because they've been around (more or less) for 40 plus years, I consider SW to be the standard, so it irks me when figures get too tall (or too short) to properly stand alongside them.

Looks like Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers is being produced for 6 inch figures by both Hasbro and Bandai currently, as well as a 7 inch line by Super7, if I'm reading correctly.

I love their old west figures, and I wish I could get them all. The price is a little high for me personally, though.

Yeah, a lot of those "artisanal" toy companies have pretty high prices, unfortunately. But they also lack the resources of a billion-dollar Hasbro, so I cut 'em some slack. (But that doesn't mean I buy that much from them at all. Would have loved to populate some toy dios with, say, a handful of Boss Fight skeletons. But not that those prices!)

(But that doesn't mean I buy that much from them at all. Would have loved to populate some toy dios with, say, a handful of Boss Fight skeletons. But not that those prices!)

Same. I do intend to pick up at least two Boss Fight blanks to be able to experiment with in customizing.

Yeah, it's an interesting situation. A lot of contracts seem to be highly specific, with Star Wars being handled by Hasbro, and Jakks Pacific and Mattel, depending on the figure, and there is some crossover in the lines, with Mattel's Disney Toybox line bearing similarity to the Galaxy of Adventure line in terms of style and size. So, not outside the realm of possibility for them to say that only specific stylings fall under that contract.

I am very hopeful for 3.75 because GI JOE is seeing a bit of a resurgence, the World of Halo is currently doing well at 1/18 scale, and Star Wars continues to sell very well.

Nah, they switched GI Joe over to 6". The only 3.75" releases are repaints of existing figures. When GI Joe goes the way of 6", then that's a very bad sign!

But, as you point out, there are the odd glimmers, like the Halo line (which originally existed in a larger scale.)

Who knows? SW is putting more and more focus on 6" with their 3.75" line now utterly adult collector focused. They're doing some interesting stuff in that space, with some amazing vehicles and playsets, but Hasbro has even admitted their focus is more on 6". The price in making a 3.75" figure is virtually the same as making a 6" figure, but they can charge twice the price for the big boys.

Yeah, it's an odd thing. But, the Vintage Collection is some amazing sculpts and work. I am super excited for Blue Leader's X-Wing coming out December but the price point hurts. And I don't like the collector emphasis.
