I don't actually expect that happen, I just meant that just because there was a big story shifting moment at the end of the first part of a story, doesn't mean that will actually be the status quo for the second half. Just look at how many times the Star Trek shows ended with a cliffhanger that looked like it was going to be a big change, but they ended up back to the status quo by the end of the next episode or the episode after that. TNG had Picard assimilated, Voyager's crew got stranded on an alien planet, and Sisko left DS9, but by the end of the next episode or the one after that, Picard was a human again, the Voyager crew was back on the ship, and Sisko was back in command of DS9.

Interesting at the end of the first episode commentary he says that they didn't have the rights to call it "He-Man and the Masters of the Universe".

What's the legal age of sexual consent in Etetnia?

Teela is pushing 50 and Adam is a teenager?

Is Lynn's hair old lady white, or sexy platinum blonde?

Probably something to do with Universal owning the rights to the Filmation series.

People tend to be intimidated by the sheer volume. 110 episodes, pretty big commitment. Totally worth it.

So He-Man is not really like Superman, but Shazam?

Kevin Smith himself made that analogy. Filmation He-Man did the Superman / Clark thing, 2002 and Revelation went the Shazam route.

Well, Adam is either young or skinny.

If he is a teenager, it explains Randors over reaction to He-Man's death.

Shazam dated Star Girl for a while.

    She's 13 and looks 13, and he's 13 too, but sometimes he looks 35.

    It was weird.

Speaking as someone who's earliest Christmas memory is tearing the wrapping off of the Castle Greyskull box, I enjoyed this show WAY more than I expected (and I expected it to be at least "good".)
Clearly everyone behind this had a huge amount of affection and respect for the source material. I really like how instead of making a slavishly accurate continuation of the old show, they went and made the version of it that previously only existed in our young impressionable imaginations.

I've gone back and looked at the original show over the years and while I'll always get a sense of nostalgia from that opening theme, anyone that thinks it's anything but a cheaply made, poorly animated toy advert is deluding themselves (see also: Transformers, Thundercats, etc) It's no 'Batman: the Animated Series', or even a 'The Real Ghostbusters'. Not even close.

What they've made is a combination of that amazing box art that looked like a Boris Vallejo painting mixed with a Richard Corben album cover, an armload of deepcut lore from both the show and the mini-comics, and actually *advanced* the larger narrative into an "end times" tale that the old show never could.

For those whinging about Teela being given too much focus as a main character and a heroes journey arc: 1) she was ALWAYS a main character, second only He-Man on the show in terms of agency. 2) her backstory and ultimate destiny were set up on one of the show's earliest episodes! Like seriously; episode # 6 'Teela's Quest', look it up! So it was baked in from the get go, they're just now finally getting around to paying it off.

As for characters staying dead or not: they're clearly operating on the level of mythic storytelling here. We're talking ancient Greek myths, Journey into the West, that whole vibe. So people dying, going to the next world and coming back is all part and parcel of it, especially when you get into the apocalyptic, ragnarokian phase of storytelling.

It's been a wild ride for these first five episodes and I look forward to seeing how the next 5 play out.
I don't know for a fact, but I'd put money on the Big Red Cheese being exactly what DC was pulling from when they introduced the concept into the mix. I mean what other hero says a magic phrase, is hit by lighting and transformed into a jacked-up circus performer looking motherfucker?

The only element of that which didn't track is they made Adam look exactly the same, but with even more questionable fashion sense, so it's better that they've gone and leaned more into Adam and Teela as teens who grew up together than a 30-something manchild and his minder.

    A line from the show...

"I studied for decades to become a warrior"

Then there's a 6 year jump after things happen to Adam who Kevin admitted was a teenager by comparing Adam to Billy Batson.

Another problem with Adams age is that he is half Human.

Eternaians might be immortal or long lived, or age very slowly.

    Eternal.

Or maybe that's what the "Magic water" was all about?

Queen Marlina was probably in her thirties when she arrived on Eternia, then less than 20 years to raise Adam, 6 year time jump. She's got 20 years until she's buried.

    Mayfly.

So Teela was thousands of years old when Adam was born, and looked exactly the same when he turned 16.

If Eternia is the center of the universe, then it does not revolve around a sun, and you define years by revolving around a sun, so an Eternian year might be longer or shorter than a terran year, but if there's no sun, then their years take no time, and life is literally eternal.

Well when you get to be old and grumpy like me, the distinction between a late teen and an early 20 something becomes less and less meaningful. They're both young people is the point, only just now coming of age. Either way that still means that for most of the "He-Man adventuring years" they were both almost certainly teenagers.

I vaguely remember the Filmation Adam and Teela being 19 and 20, respectively. 2002 A&T were both 16.

I'm wondering if they aged up Teela so that she could date Evil Lynn?

    Although...

I was strenuously shipping Evil Lynn and Orko for a moment.

    Adam is royal.

If Adam orders Teela to be intimate, she has to, on pain of death from the palace guard. Which seems even weirder if this was when she was a palace guard or/and man at arms... Because then it would be her job to kick the shit out of herself for disobeying a royal edict.

Even if they had a consensual relationship, and they were both of age, if the king or queen didn't like it, then could just have Teela hung anyway.

    A royal's word is law.

And the same can be said of (and about) the '80's She-Ra show that these idiots love to push over the new one (with the same claims about it being 'woke').

When I was little, on the bottom of the planet, we had the He-Man toys which were so cool, but they didn't play the cartoon after school, and I never saw any advertising, believe me I looked, but kids had the toys and the rich kids had all the toys.

At some point after the She-Ra toyline failed, Hordak and the Horde got retasked to the He-Man line, as the new Villain who hated both Skeletor and He-Man, opening a third front on Enternia.

It took me 30 years to notice that Hordak started off in She-Ra.

If She-Ra was woke they wouldn't have suppressed the gayness of She-Ra and Katra for 4 years. Or dialed back the lesbian lust Scorpia had for Katra in season 3 and four.

I'm sure the creatives wanted to fly their freak flag, but there were f#ckwits in suits suggesting that that show would get canceled if it seemed too gay.

    Last fu#king episode.
