MLB 2021 season: Corn-Driven Humidity

I see that pretty much every ballpark is now open to 100% capacity. Anybody know if any of them still require proof of vaccination to attend games?

Reason I ask is, I'll be going to Chicago in a couple of weeks and so I was just wondering if either Wrigley or U.S. Guaranteed New Comiskey Cellular Rate Field would require a card (would prefer not to have to drag my card out of the safe deposit box unless absolutely necessary  ).

I doubt they have the manpower to even bother with "proof of" anything. Therefore it's being left up to the public, so what could possibly go wrong?

Per The Athletic, the Cubs have told the rest of the league that everyone--Baez, Bryant, Rizzo, Contreras, even Hendricks--is available and they're taking offers.

Get ready for a repeat of the dark ages of 2012.

The Tribune Era² Cometh

I guess it depends how easy they are to fleece. If they go full Billy Beane, it will definitely be another 108 years.

I could see Contreras not being too easy to get tho. Our backup catcher situation is very much like Spinal Tap drummers and/or "another day, another Doug".

Contreras is probably the most valuable piece, as he's a plus defensive catcher with a hell of a bat, which you don't see too much of nowadays (closest comparison, historically, is Pudge Rodriguez). On top of that, he doesn't hit free agency for another year, so he's relatively cost-controlled.

That being said, however, Jed Hoyer traded Rizzo (in his prime) to the Cubs for Andrew fuckin' Cashner when he was the GM of the Padres, so I'm not really keeping high hopes about returns on the core, especially Bryant.

Yeah, I emailed the Cubs ticket office, and they replied that they're not checking vaccination cards at the door (which I agree would be rather hard to do, for tens of thousands of fans  ). I can only assume that it's the same for the Whitesox.

Although the chicago.gov site recommends taking the card along anyway...guess I never know when I might need it on a trip like this.

Just wish those damned things could be carried in a wallet! :scream:

Yeah, there might be a really rare case of someone being conscientious ;)

The nurse who gave me my vaccine just recommended taking photos of the front and back of my card with my phone, so I could produce it upon request (similar to how I have my state ID and Social Security card photographed). Might not be a bad idea.

And hope you don't get the asshole cop equivalent that tells you an image isn't proof, even when it is. That's insurance card related ranting.

It was something that was widely suggested when the vaccine rollout began and people realized the card itself was too big for the wallet. That and just as a backup for records.

You can go to Staples or Office Depot (I can't remember which) and have the card reprinted in a smaller size and laminated for free. My daughter did it and hers is the same size as her Driver's License.

From Thursday, Daniel Camarena becomes the first relief pitcher since 1985 to hit a grand slam. He was called up before the game and it would be his second game played in the majors. The grand slam was his first hit.

Ronald Acuna, Jr., had a nasty collision with the wall tonight in Miami. Landed awkwardly on his right knee and from the camera angles, looks like he blew it out. MRI scheduled for tomorrow but he had to be carted off the field; I suspect his season's done.

Fuck, fuck, fuck, fuck, fuck, fuck, fuck, fuck... :(

Didn't even look like the wall had any part in it. He just came down in a bad way. Hopefully not as bad as it looked.

The only thing worse for Barves fans is they had to listen to Joe Buck yapping about it.

Yeah, I just completely ignored Buck (I've had years of practice, I've gotten good at it). And agreed that the wall had nothing to do with it, but it still looked really ugly. Acuna was in tears as he left the field. :(

Fingers crossed that the MRI reveals good news.

As someone who ripped his ACL and MCL while pitching (one bad landing on a muddy mound), you know when you've turbofucked your knee, and Acuna looked like he knew he had just turbofucked his knee.
