Thats why we’re not talking about any of the JJ or TNG films.
That and I never understood the appeal of 4K. Makes me nauseous.
What about 4K triggers this?

Not making light of your nausea, which I do imagine could be a problem for some people. The super-realism can be very distracting, especially in stores, where one is too close to the screen. But I am reminded of my grandmother. When colour TV arrived in Australia in 1975, colour TV gave her terrible migraines. Just glancing at a colour TV in a shop window, or when she came for lunch and we had our new set on. Oh how she complained!
My grandfather bought her a colour TV of her own... and her headaches magically vanished.

Not sure. It just seems very crisp and unreal, like those old movable pictures.
I suspect it's not the 4k resolution that would lead to nausea, but motion interpolation, which can (and should) be turned off. That's a technology that's been around since HD and is not exclusive to 4k.

I'm one of those people that when visiting someone's home and sees the "smooth motion" feature on, I immediately shut it off, whether they're okay with me fiddling with the settings or not.
This is what friends do.
And if it already is off? Most of my friends are huge cinemaphiles and tech buffs and are usually turning such features off immediately too.

I have mixed thoughts about the TMP DE. I prefer the 1983 TV cut, the theatrical cut, and the Director's Edition in that order. But, I do think all three versions should be available in HD. And I'm glad some form of TMP is in 4K, so it might as well be the version Robert Wise felt was complete. That's ultimately what would've been honoring the director's wishes.

The first family I knew with a widescreen, wall-size TV insisted they had to watch everything stretched wide, no matter how it had been filmed.
You get at least two. The theatrical in 4K is due in September. The DE team is already at work on the 4K DE.
