Variety reports that Good Omens will be getting a second season!

The second season will take the storyline beyond the material in the 1990 novel. Gaiman has said that he and Pratchett, who died in 2015 at age 66, often spoke of how they’d handle a TV adaptation of “Good Omens.”

“It’s thirty-one years since ‘Good Omens’ was published, which means it’s thirty-two years since Terry Pratchett and I lay in our respective beds in a Seattle hotel room at a World Fantasy Convention, and plotted the sequel. I got to use bits of the sequel in Good Omens — that’s where our angels came from. Terry’s not here any longer, but when he was, we had talked about what we wanted to do with ‘Good Omens,’ and where the story went next,” Gaiman said.

Season 2 finds the angel and demon living among mortals in London’s Soho “when an unexpected messenger presents a surprising mystery,” according to Amazon. Season 1 was released in May 2019.
Holy shit! I knew there was a lot clamoring for a second season among fans but I never thought this would actually happen!

The fact that Neil and Terry talked about what might happen in a potential sequel goes a long way in reassuring me that a second season could be good or even necessary.

Didn't think it would happen either, but if they'd talked about it and laid some ideas down, I'm looking forward to it.

The funny thing is I was adamant there wouldn't be a second season because Neil was adamant that there wasn't going to be a second season, and yet, here we are! Clearly there was enough material that he and Terry developed for a potential sequel that he changed his mind.

that ..... and a Amazon truck loaded with cash pulling up in his driveway .... :shifty: ;)

Considering how effin' incredible Tennant and Sheen are together (see also: Staged), I could watch them read the phone book to each other.

I still have never read the book and wasn't aware there was more material that could be used for a second season.

So this is a wonderful surprise and I can't wait to see this.

I was shocked when I saw Neil Gaiman's post on Instagram this morning, I never thought we'd get more Good Omens.

I liked the first season (and the book before it, although I didn't really remember the book by the time season 1 came out), so I'm definitely up for more.

No anger here. The show wasn't perfect, but it was very good and David Tennant and Michael Sheen had amazing chemistry, they really stole the show. I'd watch another season just for more of them, but with Gaiman on board and enthusiastic to make more of the show I have a very good feeling about season 2.

I'm excited for this. I bought Good Omens the week it came out and its probably my most read book. I felt the TV adaptation was better than it had any right to be after so many let-downs on different books over the decades.

In Gaiman and Pratchett I have faith;)

With so many creators leaving after their show's first season, I'm glad Gaiman is sticking around.

Yeah, I saw Neil tweet that the other day. Yet another reason why I wish I lived in Scotland. :(

With Neil's comments, he is basically ensuring that Pratchett gets some creative credit over the actual story and plot of the season. He didn't have to make those comments, which only serves to elevate my already high esteem for Gaiman.
